We have a grocery store here in central Virginia...that gives $0.10 off per gallon for every $100.00 spent at the store
The best part of the is they also have point specials... buy 2 cans of this and get extra 20 points...if it is something you use you make out...or $20.00 in this department extra 50 points.... it takes a bit of planning...but going across the parking lot to both the gas station that the uses the points.. and our credit union next door to the station is added bonus... the points are good for 30 days... they can be redeemed for for gasoline or money off groceries... after you pick your category..
You have another 30 days to spend them..
It sure feels good to pull in the gas pump and get 50 to 60 cents off a gallon ...if you can combine the points and a cash back credit..it is a big help...this quarter we have one that is 5% per $ so if you have dropped the price to $3.00 with points that drops the gas price to $2.85 per gallon from $3.50..nice discount
It does require aa bit thinking but it can be done...
For those of you in my area I am talking about Giant ...

I can remember when the difference between reg gas, mid grade, and hi test was about .20 per grade. Our gas in West Ga was 3.49 last week. I looked at the hi test and it was 1.00 more a gallon. My wife is looking for a new car and I need to be sure that it doesn't require hi test gas.

Ontario just jumped 14 cents a litre. Regular unleaded is 1.80. That's CDN funny money so it would equal at todays exchange to about 5.00 gal U.S. for your American gallon.
Premium is 2.00 litre or more here now.

Thanks Canada

Saw on the West Coast last summer in Washington State gas prices already at $6 a gallon but people still were driving. People love their cars and driving and if this happens, it would kill the Democrats and their environmental climate change dreams do think. Already many people are suffering with the gas prices as is.
Trump's killer campaign slogan: "$2/gal gas and mean tweets or $7/gal gas and constant lies and stupidly blundering into WWIII, your choice."

A couple of notations: General rule of thumb.

If looking at a 6 cylinder you will need to check with dealer. We had two 6's, one did take high test, 295 Horses. the other didn't 235 horses both were 3.5 litre.

4's not so much even my son's new turbo 4 for his truck is regular, as is the new Rav4, that has gotten 38 MPG.

A lot of the smaller SUV's like the Rogue that advertise good gas milage have 3 cylinders. And I feel like (so take it for what it worth) that they are intended for city driving, ie close to home, not pulling trailers, going to soccer games, work, not in the river bottom, mud riding. etc. And that isn't just for foreign made cars either the Chevy and Buick also had 3 cylinders.

When we were looking the Rav 4 was the smallest SUV with a 4 cylinder.

Hope that helps.

Some folks might want to start looking at motorcycles or *gasp* mopeds.

I’ve got a bike that gets about 70 mpg on regular unleaded, a little less if cruising 80 on the freeway.
some mopeds are well over 100mpg. Even a little Honda Grom, that tops out around 50 mph will get 160 mpg running around town.

Just a thought.

Such ideas sound good, but make sure to consider the whole picture. A used Grom appears to be at least $2,000.00. Then you have insurance and registration fees.

The next issue is that people today are driving fairly reckless. Lots of car take over events that sometimes involve illegal street racing. Thing is, these car aficionado don’t just drive like idiots at the takeover events. Some are the idiots blowing red lights, cutting people off, riding inches from someone’s bumper, etc. Then there are the people trying to drive while using their phone. The number of these folks is high enough that collisions are possible. Then factor in no insurance for some. A bike crash will almost always be bad. To me it isn’t worth the risk to save money. One bad crash could put someone out tens of thousands of dollars for medical care.

I'm building up my leg muscles so I can ride my bike more. I wonder if I can also tow a 38 pound kayak over to the boat launch. It's something to work toward.

Added: I'm still going to take my camping vacation, no matter what. It's not that far away, and once I get there, I can park the car and get around by foot, bike, and kayak. Power is not needed once it gets a little warmer at night.

OH! Yes, it can be done. RT 6 minutes

While that stuff doesn't happen in our area (NE MS) motorcycles are sort of invisible to a lot of people who are driving cars.

A motorcycle will occasionally slip out of the ether and appear around me, and I look and am very defensive driving when around them, cuz like your description about cars, motorcycles do the same thing, buzzing between cars on the yellow line to pass, etc..

Motorcycle vs car, car wins every time. Also weather. However depending on area, and how much driving, etc. A Motorcycle, might be a good alternative. Just be careful.

The weight won't be an issue except in two areas, starting and stopping. Once the wheels are rolling at speed, shouldn't be a big problem. In fact the weight may help push when coasting. 'Course that is on a flat, up hill and downhill may be a problem, but they are that anyway. LOL And don't worry you get that thing out and leg muscles will come along.
