Does anyone recognize the symbolism on turning the secretary of defense to the secretary of war…or is that lost on people because our guy is doing it? If Xiden or Camel did that people here would scream bloody murder. One of Trump’s major accomplishments under his first term is he didn’t start any wars and tried to be a peacemaker.

He also ran on that accomplishment and committed us to no new wars and getting us out of existing ones if for no other reason because we are bankrupt and can’t afford it and secondly we were badly weakened during Biden with the Afghanistan debacle and draining the armory for Ukraine.

Now Trump changes the SOD (in name at least) from a defensive appointment to the Secretary of War. The next logical move is to change the Department of Defense to the Department of War. Is this what we voted for? When all else fails they take you to war. Truly we are at the end of this financial and economic system.

Considering it was ORIGINALLY the War Department and Secretary of War what is the problem?

That was then, this is now. We were not a warlike nation back then, we were more isolationist in line with the founding fathers. Back then congress declared war and not a single man. Back then we were on a hard money system with tremendous manufacturing and almost no outside debt. Back then there was no military industrial complex running the show unlike today as President Eisenhower warned us.

War and use of force was almost always the last option and not the first option and this is what President Trump ran on. Despite the rhetoric we are in debt that can never be paid back, we have infrastructure crumbling around us and are functionally bankrupt and are forced to print dollars to pay the bills that other nations are starting to reject.

And if for no other reason you don’t start wars or engage in wars that are not forced upon you when you are sending limited weapons and ammunition to Ukraine and Israel and last but not least I don’t trust my government even under Trump that issues bold face lies and goes back on what they said they would do (I.E. Epstein) protecting the powerful criminal elements in high places.

I am under no delusion that Trump actually runs this country, he no more runs the country than Biden’s handlers did. There are incredibly evil powers in Washington that even a President is not able to overcome but in the present environment changing the name of the position back to the Secretary of War and perhaps the Department of War is not lost on me.

Hfcomms, the change from War Department to Department of Defense was just one of many departmental renamings. In many ways it was the start of a movement toward "political correctness". Many of the original departmental names were more accurate descriptions of what the departments were actually supposed to do.

These days, the politicians have made a fine art of deceptive names/titles for many things, especially legislation that often does the opposite of what the name would suggest.

The original title of the position was Secretary of war. It was also the department of war. He got changed in the name of perception and peacefulness. This is really no different than him changing back the titles of the military bases to the names of the originally had before political correctness intervened the last couple of years.
