I've had a problem getting Hubby motivated into cleaning and taking some kind of inventory. He had both feet operated on a few months ago, and is still in a lot of pain. He manages to drag through work and then can't do much else. I had a set of shelves that I had gotten months ago that he thought he'd put together while he was recovering. He couldn't do it, so I finally did it myself yesterday. Didn't know if I could do it, but it turned out good and already has a bunch of canned food on it. Then I moved on:
I managed to lure him into the cellar by asking him what he wanted to do with the broken shop-vac. He started getting nervous and had to see what I was up to! I had started cleaning his workshop part of the cellar. It's such a mess that he's just ignored it because he didn't know where to start. I showed him how even if it looks like you're just moving things from one place to another, if you throw out enough and re-arrange you will eventually see some progress. I went to the Dollar Store and bought him some small clear plastic, stackable, storage boxes. He was thrilled! Now he has a way to organize all his small stuff that was thrown in boxes and rusted tool boxes, and he'll actually lknow what he has for a change. He went back down for awhile today again, and had our daughter pick up 4 more boxes when she went to town. How something so simple could get him motivated so easy!!!
I have never been able to really get him interested in prepping before. He'll let me do whatever I want and once in awhile make a suggestion, but that's been the extent of it. Well yesterday he bought 2 blankets at a yard sale "just in case"! You could have knocked me over with a feather!! I think I'm finally getting through to him a little! Baby steps, but progress none the less. I hope it keeps up, cause I'm tired of doing it alone!
