Grnhouse Prepping for GSM with grow lights

Starting to plan on next winters indoor growing season ...wanting to buy grow lights for veggie starts but don't know where to begin. Does anyone here grow veggies all winter with greenhouse/grow lights? I have purchased a few books on winter gardening but would like your practical input. TY

Check out Eliot Colemans books. He gardens year round in unheated greenhouses in Maine. We are going to try it this year for some stuff. Personally we will be using the regular 4 ft flourescents for our lettuce this winter.

If you have a choice and can afford it, a light with a mix of red and blue LEDs is light years (sorry!) Better than fluorescents. Much cheaper to run as well, but the difference in plants grown under them is really amazing.
