EBOLA PPE effectiveness

Sometime when all this ebola crap began I started to hear about how standard PPE (Tyvec suits, N95/N100 masks/respirators, etc.) were ineffective against ebola. Last week I ordered three Tyvek suits and N100 repirators each for everyone in my family along with goggles. I have plenty of gloves and bleach with a pump sprayer. I understand that if myself or anyone in my family comes down with ebola these precaution may not be enough but if I isolate my family in time then these precautions may help if I need to step outside for some reason...I don't know but I HAVE TO TRY. It's like if you live in a highly populated area and the SHTF the odds of surviving is slim if you go it alone.

I changed my mind a few times before I commited to the purchase thinking it was a waste of time but then realized that I have to at least try. Otherwise all my preps are just a waste of time and money.

I am now in a small apartment building, but I prep as I can for my toddler Grandson. If you know what needs done and don't do it, you have failed from the git-go. Like you said, you "have to at least try". Then you have done your best !

The tyvek suit is better than nothing, but not by much. I recommend a poly-coated suit with sealed seams for anyone who may confront any dangerous virus. Not only will the porus tyvek fabric allow the virus to pass through, it is not waterproof.

FWIW, the procedures being developed by a few of my counterparts in the hazmat industry call for Level A (fully encapsulated suits), not the level C we are seeing the cleanup teams in Dallas use. Decon is 1/10 bleach solution.

I had understood that Africa was using .05 bleach solution. Good to know you now have a standard. Last info. I had was that they weren't sure what should be used to decontaminate an ambulance. They thought bleach might be the best avenue.

Greetings Toxic Avenger: I hate to ask again, but would you post a few Amazon links again to the 'suits' you recommend? Thanking you in advance.
Take care. BREWER

You need to be trying to obtain tychem suits with integrated hood and booties, not plain tyvek, along with cuff length gloves, N100s, splash proof goggles and face shield. Use a second pair of gloves and tape those to the cuffs of the suit.

Like you, Anti, I got a couple of Tyvek suits, N 100 masks and goggles. It ain't perfect but better than nothing. Like you, I am trying to figure things out for my three month old grandson. Don't know what to do for him other than to isolate him away from any exposure as best as I can...and pray.

My List:
1 dozen Tychem's
Israeli Gas Mask (PAPR) powered air purifying respirators type (Have N95's but couldn't fully trust)
Playtex type gloves to wear over med exams
Foot Covers (could only find the Tyvek type)
2 Gal multi purpose sprayer with assorted nozzles (Wash Downs)
Wanted a small kiddie pool for wade wash but they are out of season

I thought I was prepped but had neglected NBC, in this case the B especially
