Well then, I'll just leave this here.

Also I could not decide between the energy or transportation prefix, both kinda fit.

Power outage forces surgeon to perform VASECTOMY with energy siphoned from his own electric truck

A urologist in Austin, Texas went the creative route during an office power outage and used energy siphoned from his electric truck to power the tools he needed to perform a vasectomy.
Dr. Christopher Yang's patient had taken time off work for the procedure and said that he would not be able to reschedule, forcing Yang and his staff at North Austin Urology to think on their feet.

One staffer suggested that the power from the surgeon's four-month-old Rivian R1T pickup truck could generate enough electricity to power the electrocautery tool needed for the patient's relatively simple procedure.
After clearing the idea with the patient, the doctor located an extension cord long enough to run from the parking lot into the medical office and plugged it into the cautery device.

Yang was initially worried the power from his truck may not support his device for the full surgery. He had a backup handheld cautery device in reach, just in case.
But the procedure, which only lasts for about 15-20 minutes, was successfully powered by the truck and Yang shared the ingenuity with his Twitter followers:

'I performed what is likely the world's first Rivian powered vasectomy today. Power in clinic went out, patient didn't want to reschedule cause he already had time off. Electrocautery was normal, procedure went great,' the surgeon wrote.
Rivian R1T trucks have extensive waitlists in most cities, and come with a starting price tag of $69,000.
The truck's battery even powered a small fan in the room, since along with the clinic's power, the AC was out as well.
'I’m not sure that this (vasectomy) should be planned use of the truck, but it’s definitely great to have that as a backup just in case,' Yang told WGLT.

Following the successful procedure, Yang said he told the family of the patient, who were amused.
'We all had a good laugh together,' he said.

Vasectomies have become exceeding popular in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's repeal of Roe v. Wade.
One Florida urologist known as the 'Vasectomy King' says men, including those under the age of 30, are rushing to get the procedure in light of the decision.
'Many of the guys are saying that they have been thinking about a vasectomy for a while, and the Roe v. Wade decision was just that final factor that tipped them over the edge and made them submit the online registration,' said Dr. Doug Stein, who has been receiving north of 12 requests for the procedure a day, since the ruling.
Following the Roe ruling, abortion was automatically outlawed in 18 US states as a result of 'trigger laws' and historic bans that were reenacted after the June 24 ruling.

On Tuesday, Republican Louisiana Senator Lindsey Graham introduced legislation to ban abortions nationally following the 15-week mark of a pregnancy.
Graham's bill provides exceptions for abortions after 15 weeks when the pregnancy threatens the life of the mother and for rape - though the rape victim must have sought medical treatment and counseling for the trauma at least 48 hours prior to her abortion.

I've been puzzling over backup power systems for years and I'm just a writer. You'd figure a guy who does surgeries would have made the move well before now.
That doesn't surprise me at all.

After hurricane Sandy here in NJ the state was offering tax insensitive for gas stations to put generators in.
Don't think I've seen one yet that actually did it. There was a requirement as well based on the stations tank size as well. The little guys could not get the incentive.

I did notice a vets office I drive by on the way to work just put a pretty decent sized on in.

I'd like to know what the Dr's malpractice insurer thought of this move.
Probably no different that having a backup generator.
The truck has AC outlets built in. Not like he was using jumper cables or some cobbled together system.
Looked up the specs and the truck can provide 1500 watts of ac power.

Yeah, it reads as a forced story to wow and sway opinion.

Could have been, sure. Maybe he just never thought there was a need. All it took me was one multi-day power outage to start researching and discovering that these things are SUPER EXPENSIVE.

I didn't mean your story . . . I mean the original post.
"Let's come up with a way to make people look upon our E-Vehicle with awe, wonderment and desire."

I'm not saying the surgery didn't happen, or that the article is untrue . . . just a spinning of an event to put a halo over an E.V.

No, no...I was thinking more about his reaction to it. I was shocked he didn't already have some kind of backup power in a place where he's clearly doing surgery. But then, I figured maybe he just thought he didn't really need it. When the lights are always on when you want them, who worries about backup power?

You thought that Kleenex on your doctor bill was expensive.
Wait until you see the price of the electric pickup truck.

BTW . . . patient could not reschedule? BS . . . it's Austin. Employer will let you off a dozen times for birth control.

Lindsey Graham is not a senator from Louisiana. He’s from SC, I think, but I don’t feel like looking it up. The author of the article should have done that.

Pride comes before the fall.....Pride month ended.
Some moons back I had the procedure. Nurse took the alcohol saturated gauze and began to smack my testicles about as hard as one cans from a two inch stroke.....bam bam bam, as the evil germs were beat down....she took me to as close as one can to screaming, and then stopped.

evil woman

im sure she and the doctor commented later, out of sight. Laughs had to be shared.

sadistic to say the least.

The other take home, wear whitey tighteehs, not boxers for a couple days. The pain that ensued was very real.
