I currently have three separate homeless groups living in building entrances on my city block and the block next to me. Further, I am talking about sleeping there every night, leaving a pile of filth, needles, cardboard and assorted trash piled for multiple feet in every direction. The local clean up and so called security forces don't even bother to try and move them anymore. They will show up around 10 am and do some clean up. The homeless will sleep to noon if you let them. I feel sorry for the business owners who have to deal with this on their own every single morning.

Further, it seems to uber PC Portland Police force has now for all intents and purposes collapsed into a useless husk of what it was even five years ago. It should be noted that out of the 120 positions available only 60 people applied for them. Further, it should be noted that out of those 60 applicants only THREE, YES THREE, ACTUALLY PASSED THE BACKGROUND CHECK. Yep, nuff said. Finally, the authorized number of Portland Police Officers is at this link below. The bottom line here is PPD is seriously under strength based on population growth alone. Chief Outlaw asked for a total of 1200 police officers in fiscal 2019. The actual number of Portland Police officers is under 1,000, with a staggering 120 vacancies. Again, the two main reasons Portland is now in chaos, are the spineless Marxist morons the people of Portland keep electing to political office and their Pro Antifa policies, and second, the fact PPD is down almost 300 officers, the asked for 1200, versus the actual 900. Of course, you have to subtract 120 from the actual 900, which gives you less than 800 officers.

Last month TGP reported that internal politics and a pro-antifa attitude inside the Portland Police Bureau leadership and city hall has led to an exodus of officers leaving the bureau, either retiring early or going to work for other agencies in the area. The assistant chief told the City Commissioners that out of more than 60 people who applied for public safety specialist jobs, only 3 passed background checks. The biggest reasons for their disqualification is past drug use or dishonesty in their application.

Police applicants who have used marijuana in the past year don’t pass a PPB background check because marijuana remains illegal under federal law.

With so many vacancies in the PPB, some City Council members wondered if there should be fewer supervisors and more patrol officers.

“Is there a way to reconfigure your workforce to have more officers on the street rather than in supervisor or specialty units?” Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty asked.

“I’m sure there is a way to flatten the hierarchy,” Outlaw said. “But the issue with that is to maintain accountability and chain of command.”

PPD is paying a $64,000 starting salary, plus a $5,000 signing bonus, so the pay and benefits are not bad at all. What the mutant elite of Marxists now running Portland refuses to accept is that the City, especially downtown is in a permanent state of anarchy, and normal people are LEAVING THE CITY as fast as they can. It is a simple fact that nearly all of the actual population growth has come outside the city limits and in the suburbs of Tigard, Beaverton, Hillsboro, and Gresham. There is a small park down by Naito and 1st ave on Morrison. It has a bunch of Oregonian front pages, on little stands. Portland's total population in 1945 was 500,000. The population today is also 500,000, with much of that coming from the annexation from 122nd the border of Gresham in the 1980's. If they hadn't done that, the actual population would be maybe 350,000. The total population of the state of Oregon is 4 million. Of that four million THREE million lives in the Willamette Valley, from Portland to Eugene. Of that 3 million only 500,000 lives in the city limits, and that is going down.

People will vote with their feet, just like they do in Illinois, New York etc.

The interesting thing is when the majority of the Marxists living in Portland get tired enough of the homeless crap to start voting out the marxists? I can't say, but even the liberals are getting annoyed at the filth.

Nobody with a sound mind would want to be a cop in Seattle, Portland, or San Francisco.

If you do not want homeless folks living in your building entrance then there are way to stop that. Man up and don't rely on others to do the work for you.

And here is a simple example. I'm sure you are allowed to clean up the mess they make. So clean it up, say around 3am. Use a hose to start before using a push broom.

Then if that doesn't work bust some heads, in a nice way. Do it off the property and wear a mask. The point will be to drive them out of the neighborhood

Vancouver, WA (next to Portland) has curtailed a long standing agreement to help Portland in police matters. Clackamus county is in the process of halting cooperation with Portland PD. The cause of the other PDs ceasing to assist Portland PD is due to the policies of the city being chummy with Antifa and other criminal elements, as well as no legal assistance if the assisting agencies are sued in Portland.

Yep, the hand writing is on the wall for Portland. They're in big trouble, and the criminals know very well that they have a free hand to ply their trade.

Portland's Population in 2017 was 647,805....Census Bureau Estimates. But I must say that living out here in the boonies (35 miles south) I've found that many of my neighbors refuse to venture into Portland these days....words like "Unsafe" and "Crazy Downtown Mess" are heard when anyone talks about trips into Portland. It's really SAD!!!

To me it feels as though Portland has become a different country, an ALIEN country.

The City of Portland has refused to indemnify Clackamas County deputies who respond to requests for assistance from Portland police, according to the sheriff.

As a result, the deputies can be personally sued if they back up Portland officers and any lawsuits arise later.
Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts explained the situation in an email to his deputies in late February, KPTV reported.

The fact that out of 120 vacancies they only had 60 people even bother to apply, and out of those 60 only THREE passed the background check means the system, ie police ability to even do basic police work has now totally collapsed. the police they do have, which is HUNDREDS under the 1200 they want for 2019 don't even bother to try and police any more. Whole classes of crimes, vandalism, car prowls, harrassment and common theft are being ignored completely. This gives the perception, which is based on reality that the city of Portland is in a state of near total chaos, and the inmates are running the asylum. I see no indication that will change in the near to medium term. I just walked over to the Central Library where I saw some MORON church group handing out free sandwiches to all the PROFESSIONAL MOOCHES infesting downtown. The chances of an ordinance being passed to make it illegal to sleep in building entrances, or not to feed them are ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, NOTHING.

I doubt you could raise 1,000 armed men in the city of Portland. I am the only person in my entire 60 unit apartment building who has a personal weapon.
