Weird cause that’s not really a skanky part of Phoenix. Most of the skanky gangbanger stuff is to the south.

PHOENIX — A Phoenix police commander has died and two other officers were injured Sunday night after they were shot during a domestic dispute in the north Valley.

Commander Greg Carnicle was shot after police responded to the scene near 40th Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road around 7 p.m.

The suspect, who was barricaded inside a home nearby, was shot and killed late Sunday night, sources tell ABC15.

One of the other officers, Marissa Dowhan, is out of surgery and is expected to be okay, police say. The other officer, Alicia Hubert, was shot in the lower extremities and is expected to recover. Police say the officers had between 2 and 3 years experience with the department.

Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said at a Sunday night press conference that the incident began when officers arrived for calls reporting a dispute between roommates. When officers arrived, they started speaking with one of the roommates, who was said to be acting erratic.

Police say the suspect, only identified as a 22-year-old man, was cooperative at first and then refused to leave.

Additional officers were called to the scene, and officers Dowhan, Hubert and Commander Carnicle went up the stairs to the residence where the suspect was shut inside. At that point, the suspect opened fire, striking all three.

Commander Carnicle was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police remained at the scene in hopes the suspect would surrender, but he reportedly exited the home and was armed, and officers shot him. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Well. Yeah.. Not REALLY how it's supposed to work, 'cuz no jury got to decide.

BUT, I assure you, if you take out an extremely well respected both in AND OUT of uniform superior officer, you ain't going to get to be seen by a jury.

Hate to see loss of life....but as to rules of engagement....when the phoenix area cops cut down Daniel Shaver like a dog in a hotel hallway on his knees begging for his life while unarmed...the cops set a precedent with that one. Apparently it aint so fun when the opponent is committed to the engagement and skilled in the art.

It just means anyone who is aware will never ever give up their weapons. They will go out shooting...

I feel for the officers.... too bad

HA! GTR....yeah. Thing is, from what I've seen of Phoenix, it's a crap shoot. Could be part of the community or a 4-wheel driven, wife beater shirt wearin' redneck. My gut says since we don't know - he's black.
