XD Thanks, wonderful to wake up and find another to read.

Addendum #1: Act alone, tell no one. I want to add this thought: The government, tyrants and oppressors in general prefer to deal with organized groups. They are of the mind set that one cuts off the head and the body dies. Take out the leader of a group and it becomes ineffective.
Nothing is as fear inducing for tyrants than the thought of hundreds of armies of one. The concept of "leaderless resistance" probably keeps them awake at night. There is no head to cut off to kill the body.
By their very nature Americans are freedom loving people who don't like to be told what they must or must not do.
I recall my father telling me about Korea during the war there in the early 50's. He said that they relieved a hill with two men on it, both privates. When asked, the senior (time in service) private said he was in command and that they were c company, etc. Two men left out of well over a hundred, and they still had leadership and counted themselves a unit. No other nation on the world would consider a unit with over 50% casualties to still exist, but the American men did.
It is that attitude that the next man in line will step up and lead that makes Americans so formidable in combat. They just won't recognize defeat, and they don't need someone to tell them to step up and take their place in the leadership position. It's why troops from other countries would fail in America. They are used to having a master. Americans refuse a master.
So then it comes down to the gibsmedats and the productive free me. The gibsmedats all assume they are owed something, but even they don't like being told what to do. They are lead by enticements, not by obeying orders as slaves. As for productive free men, They are not only ungovernable, except by their own consent, after being convinced to accept a leader, but even then they won't be ordered around meaninglessly or to their detriment.
I could go on for a long time. There is the issue of fragging officers (throwing a hand grenade into a incompetent officers tent). It wasn't a thoughtless action, it was a means of removing a danger to everyone else when that person forgot that leading also means caring for the needs of those lead.
A good military unit mostly uses their automatic weapons set to semi auto. Very few occasions call for full auto. When they do they really come in handy, but they are rare. Belt fed; crew served machineguns are far more important than individual rifles being full auto. It isn't the 1,000 rounds prayed n sprayed , but the single one that hits the target that matters. I was glad to see this pointed out in the story.
In short I"m not arguing with your points, just sharing my insights into why I agree with what you wrote, and perhaps helping someone who reads this feel prompted to look into this matter further.
One last point, a private individual is much better served with careful aimed single shots. Feeding a full auto is a very very expensive proposition, especially when there is no logistics train for resupply, and any resupply would almost have to be off of enemeis stores, or battle field drops.
Thanks for this and now I go back to enjoy the rest of the story.
