I've wondered what you look like as I have enjoyed your posts for years. Had to smile (sorry) when I finally got to see a photo! So sorry this happened and I second the suggestion of a knee walker. Prayers for a complete recovery. Maybe think about an updated photo when bandages are off!

Hope you feel better soon, Skippy. You’ll be ok. I’ve known some people who’d throw themselves to the ground and MISS.

Seriously tho, order a bubble wrap suit for whenever you leave the house. And definitely toss those stones into the nearest river…

In a month, I recommend a 20 lb sledgehammer treatment for the flagstones. Paybacks are hell, right?
Hope you're up & mobile a lot sooner than that - I just don't want you to press your luck enacting revenge too soon. ;)

A couple of months ago, I nearly fell after tripping on some rocks
just outside the garage.

I ended up being on just the ball of my right foot, with my left foot
completely off the ground, I was headed for a bad fall.

For years I took the Korean martial art call Kuk-Sul-Won,
and I remember a form very similar, to the position I found myself in.
I proceeded to do the form, and was able to regain my stance,
and not hit the ground, which would have been devastating at
my advanced age.

Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Please be safe everyone.

Regards to all.

And you pulled that memory out, processed it, and acted on it probably less than a second, Your still pretty good for an old fart.........

Prayers from here as well.

Who woulda thunk that flagstones were attack flagstones? The two that I have as stepping stones are about 4 inches thick and we recessed them into the grass by the pond for that very reason. I'm really good at tripping over things.

Might not have been attack flagstones. Could have been kitty cat flagstones that seek to tangle up your feet and make you fall.

Get well Chuck and take care of him and yourself, Tari. Prayers or you both.

Muscle memory is an amazing thing. It has save my butt more than once. There is a reason for repetition.

My killer cat was here...so not mine, although he has sent me to hospital more than once.

Get well/speedy recovery, night driver.

Update time.

POD Squad came out with barrels rolling and had the foot all screwed together nice and tight ...

Bad news is non-weight bearing 2-3 months.

Minor complications showed up an I now have a "little Fido Bag" (Foleys R FUN) to carry for a couple weeks.
And yes the nurse used anesthesia.

Injured wrist is in a cast splint and Ortho And I will discuss whether it IS broke and how much weight it might bear.

Busted foot is on right side, maybe bust arm and ribs are all right side.

Yep, embrace the S*u*C*k [success my bloody dick!!!]

OH, and if they try to lock ME INTO ANY of the SNFs or RELIC OUT I may need to set up an ex-fil rescue party.

MANY THANKS FOR THE PRAYERS.

Ah man, was on my way to this thread to ask for an update, and like magic, here one is!

Grumbling is the first sign the patient is improving. Absolutely no medical training required
to know this :D

You keep improving, ok? We'll keep the prayers coming!!

I still try to do as much as I can, to stay physically in shape as best possible,
and that includes the stretches, and some of the forms that I learned
learned in Kuk-Sul-Won. You learn how to properly fall, how to prevent
breakage or other physical damage to yourself.

As I was stumbling to a fall, I remembered the form, and instead of falling,
I was able to twist out of the stumble, and replant my left foot.

I was lucky, as I have remained limber for my age, not overweight,
the years of martial arts has been tough on some parts,
cannot do a full split anymore, too many hernias, however what was
taught remains. If someone had seen me, they would have said,
"what is that old man doing dancing on that driveway."

Glad to hear the good news, that Chuck is on the mend.

Please be safe everyone.

Regards to all.

Wow! You did it good! The problem with age is that you don't bounce like you used to. Once while watching a movie with my 6 year old grandson, one of the characters fell hard to the ground. I told my grandson that would really hurt me because I don't bounce like I used to. He looked at me with a very serious face, and trying to make me feel better said, "That's okay grandma. You're fluffy now.". At least you're not fluffy, Chuck!

BTW...tripping over things that mere mortals can't even see is my super power.

Just make sure that you are knocked out, when they are installed,
and no morphine does not do anything to help.

Please be safe everyone.

Thanks for the update, ND. Seems like you still have your sense of humor. You're gonna be alright. Can't wait to hear about your adventures as you continue mending. Just glad I'm not your nurse or MD. LOL Relic, I hope you're getting some rest, too. We'll keep you both in our prayers.

Sorry that happened but now I know what to be on the lookout for.

Gotta say, if you came to the door looking like that, I wouldn't be giving you building access.
