Here's a different one. Got a text from a friend back in Indiana today. She runs the family business (monuments) and in the text said they are not able to get the stenciling they need to do headstones. Also she tried to order a case of printer paper from the local office supply store, none available.

For the whole week.

You got a real racket going on.

Yeah.

I wasn’t gunna mention it, but since you asked.....there are frequently current and serviceable oxygen, acetylene, nitrogen, CO2 and various other industrial gas bottles in those loads.....and the O2 that aren’t current get sent off by my supplier for testing and revalving, if necessary.

I lay awake nights for the guilty conscience, honest.

:groucho:

In my auto repair business I am seeing shortages on some auto parts. The once always available parts have to be ordered now and the ship time may be 1-4 weeks out. The production runs are WAY behind.

I can confirm that here in S GA.

Certain parts of getting scarce. Normally we can just order from a WH for same day or next day delivery.
But now, sometimes it has to come from the manufacturer, and that can take a lot of time.

Lately, we get specific type parts in large spurts, when they become available.
---------
Meanwhile, the dealerships are getting more skimp as the weeks go by.

Get this, the local Ford dealer had a few brand new cadillac suv's on the front display row.

The Honda dealer has hardly any new inventory. The parts guy said he's having trouble getting normally in stock parts from Honda.

The GM dealer looks to be in the same boat as Honda.

The supply chain system continues to grind to an eventual halt.

This is odd but I had to replace one of the bulbs in my motion detector on the back patio. I have always bought them on Amazon but no matter which seller I tried I got this message in red:

This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please choose a different delivery location. I tried several different address and got the same message

I Googled and found them cheaper at Bulbs and Things (bought 8 to be sure I didn't run out again) but I thought this was an odd message. Curious to see if anyone else here gets the same message:

Satco S3417 130 Volt

Why aren't you going with LEDs?

About the only reason to use incandescent is if you need the waste heat.

I just checked to see if it would ship here.
I get no red lettering at the place order button screen.
So it could be a warehouse location issue.

I didn’t do any big items this week like I’d planned on doing (blankets) :)

My wife insists that the “king size” comforters and “blue jean” quilts be washed at the local laundromat. She “hates” to go to there, so I get to do that job alone. At least they have air conditioning, which is a HUGE plus in Texas. Even if they would fit in our home washer we don’t want to work it that hard. Of course it costs me almost $8 to wash and dry one blue jean quilt, but I suppose it’s worth it to keep from overworking our machine.

considering that appliances are hard to find right now, and replacement parts even harder still I'd say yes it's worth the $8 to use their machine and not yours. We have a king sized wool blanket and comforter, I prefer to wash those at the laundromat and for the same reason as your wifes.

Good grief..and they don't even have lids in yet.

That's the gold.

Some do have lids, one gal posted in the group photos of three end caps filled with lids and pallet fulls in the aisle, this was Virginia IIRC, meanwhile none of the other WM's have lids.

IIRC it was either here or in the canning group someone posted that they were in a WM in either Portland or Seattle and there was tons of canning supplies but that people in that area are not into canning. So distribution may be part of the problem.

There's an empty space on the shelves at both of my local WMs, here in central Iowa, and it's been like this for months now.

Oh and I forgot to mention there's now a limit here locally for canning supplies. Limit of 2.

When the fire at the Chemtool plant in Rockton, IL happened we talked about shortages that would happen. A huge contractor in Southern WI went to all the Farm an Fleet stores in Northern IL and WI and bought up all the grease. It sounds like they were doing all their buying about an hour after the fire started. They cleaned all of the stores completely out. Have not heard what company it was but I think it's the company that is doing all of the construction on roads, especially the interstates.

Don't know if this has been posted but 3" cholrine tablet for pools and septic systems are almost impossible to find here in Texas

On Packy's advice, I bring this here, from its original point on the Home Depot cargo ship thread.

Spotted some blurb on CNBC this morning; one paragraph in another article, so no links. Apparently going into this morning's trading, Hasbro and Mattel were on watch. Apparently, there's a chance of a big toy shortage going into Christmas this year because container shipping is so hard to get that the toys are backed up on the China docks.

So any parents out there wanting to land a couple nice plastic things for Christmas this year may want to consider being proactive.

DH drives a 20ft flat bed for HomDep here. His truck has been in the Peterbuilt shop for 6 weeks waiting for parts that are supposed to arrive today from India. The loaner truck he was using is also in the freightliner shop waiting for an electrical harness for the lights....4 to six weeks out they think.
Has to share a truck with another nearby town for now. They do the day times he does the afternoons.

Usually these trucks are repaired in 48hours max

We went to the large Honda in Russellville Arkansas. It is the biggest in the state I was told. Usually the parking lot has 4 wheelers and side by sides lined up along a lot of the edge of the parking lot and a lot in the middle of the lot too. And the inside showroom is as full as they can pack it and still have room to look. The parking lot had 4 side by sides, and 1 in the showroom. There were no 4 wheelers outside. The 4 wheelers inside were spaced so far apart that you could just about drive a 4 wheeler between them. They had some dirt bikes and big bikes, but I didn't know if this was the normal amount for bikes or not. The parts guy told us that parts are slow coming in. We got our maintenance stuff except a couple of spark plugs for our power washer. We got them at Advanced Auto.

Side by sides are getting insanely expensive in our parts. We’ve been wanting to get one but you can’t even find an old used one for less than $10K. It’s incredible how much EVERYTHING has gone up and/or has become scarce. We’ve also been trying to keep an eye out for a used open utility trailer and there’s nothing. Two years ago you could’ve found a half a dozen of them on Craigslist on any given day.

Friend has been waiting for a door for their Toyota tundra for a month. Says they cant find one.
My sliding glass door window (big) was broken by a flying rock from the weed whacker in April. I have to wait until Sept or Oct for the replacement window!!!! Fortunately it is shattered but still intact and it's only the outside pane that is broken. It looks pretty but I can't see out. :shr:

Same thing happened across the street from me last month. They were told that it will be Sept. at the earliest to get it repaired.

Large plastic watering cans are impossible to find in stores, and spotty online.

Car lots are sparse, no surprises there.

Canning jars are more available, however, boxes of lids are still MIA. No surprise.

My mom can't find Oxydol detergent in IA, but I can here in WI.

DH work truck still not fixed (2 months now). Peterbilt said the parts that were from India never showed again. Corporate is trying to find a replacement 20ft straightbed anywhere and closest one is in Eastern Washington. Yikes

The transmission went out on my 2016 Honda car. We had just got a recall about 2 weeks ago about it. I got it to the dealership Monday. They are paying Enterprise almost $50 a day for me a loaner. I guess we will see how long it takes for Honda to get a transmission in!

Yesterday I went by my local - by local I mean local, none big box, mom and pop type son does all the repair work and is very good - Stihl dealership.

Went to get weed eater stringer. Had a small supply. Got the 4.99 small roll. Asked the guy (who I know) for a 30% discount. He said he couldn't be giving out no discounts, because that was all he had, and he couldn't get anymore.

So I politely picked it back up and took it back. He say hey bring that back he couldn't give me no discount but he would sell it to me. I got the 14.99 much bigger roll. Probably last me 3 or more years. I mean if you can't get anymore, I'm getting the bigger roll to last longer. LOL

He said he was having the awfulist time getting stuff from Stilh. Hasn't had any weed eaters since March. He said he guessed he just sit around and pick his nose when he ran out. He would have plenty of company though. A bunch of old timers after eating breakfast at Bill's Hamburgers opened in the 1920's go there and hang out till lunch. If you want to know anything, anything at all, just go by there and ask them, they know.

He did have a bunch oil for the gas, and I didn't notice how the chainsaw blades were, but you can also get blades at TSC, just not any answers to questions. I got a bunch of saw blades, just that about half need sharpening. (I'm short on time)

He also sells xMark zero turn mowers, and didn't have any in store. He said he could get them, he was just sold out at the present time.

If the rain fade for the sat. internet doesn't stop soon, this may be a really long post. So won't be a shortage of that.

We had to cancel a TUFFShed order because of zoning issues. The salesman told us that the trucks that were scheduled to deliver to Northern California we broken down. 21 customers that have been waiting for 6 months and no answer as to when tgr trucks will be fixed

DH truck is STILL at Peterbuilt waiting for the actuator from India. His boss finally had to scalving parts from the 2nd broken down flatbed are piecemeal everything together.

There are no replacement parts for the 20ft rig anywhere in the US they say.

I see the local "pick pull" salvage yards are going to be very very busy this year

Tide. I like Tide detergent but it has gotten very hard to find the 180 use box which use to sell for 19.99 a box. Now it’s 102 use box for 18.96.

Stopped by a Sherwin-Williams paint store to have an old can shaken up. Signs said:
"Paint samples are temporarily unavailable." I asked why. He replied a shortage of paint. Looking around there were lots of holes in the brush section, a 6-foot by 4 shelf section for spray paint had just a few cans.

Out of labels for the label printers here. Might have to tie little ribbons around the urine samples. On back order for weeks now. And anything electronic has been on back order for months.
