Organic toothpaste?

This is a strange request...but lately I have had a huge problem with my toothpaste triggering my gag reflex... I'm not sure if it's the flavor or chemicals or what, but it's getting to the point where I can barely brush without getting myself sick... Any suggestions would definitely be much appreciated...

I had the same thing happen! I have never had an overactive gag reflex, but suddenly I had the problem with toothpaste. I started using baking soda because it didn't do that and now I use Burt's Bees and I don't seem to have the problem

We use Toms too. I don't think it's organic but it's more natural. We also use Jason's toothpaste, I personally prefer it over Toms for my sensitive teeth. But the kids prefer the flavor of Toms.

I use Dr. Christopher's tooth powder. I had receding gums, and the tooth powder tightened the gums up, and they're healing. Don't believe that gums can't regenerate, because they can.

I'll definitely try tom's and jason's...ordered from a company called Earthpaste a few samplers, only a hand full of ingredients so hopefully it won't effect me...even safe to be swallowed according to their site. From what i can tell its just clay, essential oils, xylitol, and salt. seems basic enough, i'll chime in when the samples come in and let y'all know how it turns out

just thought i'd throw in an update here. got the earthpaste in and its great. not a single issue brushing my teeth now its quite refreshing. problem is, i don't have that 'fresh breath' feeling later on in the day that the chemical laden crap gave me...which i guess is ok, i can just brush more often...but for the most part, i am beyond impressed with this stuff!

I'm pretty sure Tom's was bought out by one of the big corps, and the ingredients (of course) changed. I used it a decade ago, but stopped, and I'm pretty sure it's because they sold out.

Desert Essence with tea tree oil is good. Earthpaste is good, too.

I also use Dr. Christopher powder.
I have been watching Yogi Cameron on 218 on Dish. He talks about using herbs based on your body type. He uses sesame seed oil and licorice powder.

I'll second desert essence toothpaste. Mint flavor especially the ginger one did not taste like ginger at all.
Tom's and Burt's bees sold out, I think it was to proctor and gamble.
Best price I found on the toothpastes was at : vitacost.com

(No involvement with them other than being a customer)

Their sale prices are great also

We make our own. Pretty easy. Lots of recipes online.

That's what I was going to say too. I don't "make" my own, but a couple of times a week use baking soda mixed with mouthwash to change things up as well as for taking off coffee stains. You can add fresh lemon juice, very sparingly, once in a while to the mix. Not much though, because lemon can be too hard on the enamel.
