ENVR Oregon salmon hatcheries destroyed

Sigh ... and the evidence keeps mounting that these fires were purposely set by the communist ANTIFAs.

... yet the leftist elites are pushing it's all "climate change"

Why are so many people so stupid that they believe this crud?

I am not sure that some are started by our own government as well - call me crazy if you want - but it won't change my skepticism.

They are destroying our food supplies on purpose.

Yet Antifa claims it wants to improve things in the ZUSA.

Right, got it.
You will eat the gruel your betters lays out for you.

Salmon are a delicacy of the bourgeoisie. And the "People's State" doesn't have interest to protect the environment. Too many Burisma connected to support.

This actually fits right in with their MO.
FedGov ruled years ago that there is no difference, for endangered species reasons, between farmed salmon and wild salmon.
The prohibitions on dams and disruptions to rivers are relatively easily overcome by corporate salmon farming operations.
And it is profitable......In their minds, they are fighting for Gaia against Capitalism.

If you really look at this map...

and the fires, it's not IMHO a coincidence. Would not be surprised if these hatchery are not in or really close to the zones to be free of any human use. Especially the common people's need not apply. And the hatchery even promotes common peoples recreational fishing industry, that's really bad!

Safe the frigging owls and frigging fish my arse!

Agenda 21 is in progress.

Scary times ahead and most have no idea what it is going to do to us.

Anybody have a guess to whether this is really a call to run out and buy Salmon or not?

Is this going to cause shortages right away or is this a down the line problem?

Thanks

I'd think it's more of a "down the line"problem, *unless* Fish and Game folks decide to get ahead of potential shortages in a couple of years and cut quotas/harvest allotments now. Seems pretty late in the year to really affect canned salmon availability this year.

Most canned salmon are from Pink Salmon. Chinook salmon, or King Salmon, are considered the best of the 5 varieties and are not usually canned, at least commercially. This is a major loss of a valuable resource, but I cannot see this causing a run on canned salmon.

Damn better stock up on canned salmon this weekend then.

My kids inhale salmon. This sucks bigly. Looks like I need to get to the store and get as much of the frozen stuff as I can. They don't really eat the canned salmon though I make croquettes out of it from time to time.

Won't stop people from freaking out and creating a man-made shortage. Same thing they did with paper products earlier this year.

My mom makes a wonderful kind of fried salmon patty. Plain old delicious, it is. Have to get some today myself, I suppose; would hate to think of it gone.

West coast salmon are largely threatened or endangered species. They are used as an index species - a sort of canary in the coal mine, to gage the health of the environment ,(so they say.)
In my considerable experience on the front lines of the Klamath system wars, they are used to gain control over water, the use of which is privately owned with mining and farming claims dating back to the gold mining era. (In CA, they predate Indian reservation claims.)

The many hatcheries befouled the natural DNA native to a system - at least with coho in the Klamath, and may have diluted natural immunities to pests and disease. In the PNW, they are often run by tribes to augment the naturally produced fish. Tribes do run commercial salmon operations but these are pricey boutique whole fish. Salmon are a traditional part of the native diet and the cycle of food. Native Americans have a high incidence of diabetes, attributed to eating a modern diet.

Canned fish come from south America here. The coho we find in the supermarket are from there.

With the fish gone, and the forest burned, along with its wildlife. There is no place to run to, to hide and try to thrive from big brother.
Just an inspired thought.
Its hard to hide and thrive, in a desert of burnt forest.

So this will really only effect canned salmon verses the fresh or frozen?

I don't see it impacting the canned salmon supply except for people reacting to hearing salmon and buying it up. In a couple of years when those fry would have developed, you will see a shortage of fresh King Salmon. It really is a shame because King numbers are the lowest out of the 5 Pacific species. They are also the best eating.

Well you might want to envision such a run because it's already happening! I have six new cans on the shelf that I bought a month or so ago so am not to worried, plus there's always mackerel.

It's already happening, and word on the street is that environmentalists plan to stop the rebuilding efforts of said hatcheries.

There's already a run on salmon happening. Someone posted photos on the Aldi Nerd group on faceborg of limits of 2 both on the canned and the fresh salmon being posted again. So someone higher up is paying attention.

This has evidently already caused a run on canned salmon. I checked the canneries I buy from and they are sold out.
Somebody gave a heads up in here a couple of months ago cant remember and I bought a case from Vital choice.
Gads people on here are awesome!

I buy canned wild caught Alaskan King Salmon. It has always been hard to find because many don't buy because of the cost so the regular grocery stores won't keep many cans on the shelf. I buy all of it when I see it. I never have to worry about shelf life and having to use it up fast. Oops it's Alaska fancy sockeye red salmon.

I believe Atlantic salmon is farmed and would not be effected, nor would Alaska salmon.

Those of us here understand this, the useless eaters not so much. Also a lot of the salmon I find at Aldi, the fresh stuff, comes from Norway. That said I bought some more yesterday so I now have a years worth, I eat roughly one can per month.

There were reports that the Leaburg hatchery released close to a million fish directly into the McKenzie River. The fish they released were probably trout not salmon, but information is subject to change since everything is still in turmoil from the fires.
