On the level or not?

I received the following message in an email tha came from "support." When I checked the properties the address came back to an address simailar to "debs@aloha.net."

I did not run the attachment. Does this sound on the level or not?

"Dear user of verizon.net

Your account has been used to send a large amount of spam messages during the
recent week.
Most likely your computer had been infected by a recent virus and now runs a
trojaned proxy server.

We recommend that you run in attach free spyware remover software to keep your computer
safe.

That's a bad e-mail.
I bet the attachment size is 34 kb or less. Too small for a spyware remover and a perfect size for a trojan/virus.

The password feature is a classic way to protect the virus attachment in a zipped form from AV scanning.

Wow, thanks! I deleted it but I left it in my Deleted Items folder unopened. I didn't check the attachment size.

I'll send it to cyber-Heaven and be done with it.
