Number of Americans Carrying Guns Daily Jumps to at Least 6 Million

The number of Americans who leave their homes with a pistol or revolver on their person jumped from approximately three million in 2015 to six million in 2019, according to a study conducted by University of Washington researchers.

The Guardian reported the study on November 25, 2022, noting that it appeared in the American Journal of Public Health.
The study’s lead author, epidemiology professor Ali Rowhani-Rahbar, views the increase in carry as the natural outgrowth of a years-long evolution whereby Americans have spent less and less time buying guns for hunting and recreation and more and more time buying guns for self-defense.
Moreover, with record-breaking gun sales since 2019 and the Supreme Court’s Bruen (2022) decision, Rowhani-Rahbar indicates he believes the number of Americans carrying daily will continue to surge.

Rowhani-Rahbar said, “We have every reason to believe this is a trend that is probably going to continue.”

In addition to discovering that six million Americans carry a gun daily, the study found that 16 million Americans carry a gun once a month.

Rowhani-Rahbar pointed out a trend of states taking action to make it easier to carry guns for self-defense: “The country has been moving as a whole, in the past two or three decades, very clearly and dramatically toward loosening gun-carrying laws.”

Twenty-five states have adopted a constitutional carry framework for carrying a gun for self-defense. Those 25 states are: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Alabama’s constitutional carry law goes into effect January 1, 2023.

Notice MI wasn’t on that list. Whitler is more than happy to continue her commie gun grab attemps helping her master FJB.

She‘s going to run for president one day.

Now if even 100 Americans would figure out how to use them.
LOL!! It reminds me of the range test given when getting my concealed weapon license. We had to hit a man size target 20 feet away using a full load, then demonstrate how to reload and fire again. It was easy, I got 100% hits, I mean who couldn't at 20 feet?

Well the guy after me never hit the target once, LOL. He was using a hammerless 38, which means the hammer (or whatever actuates the firing pin) has got to be cocked with the trigger pull. I watched him, and as he was squeezing one off the barrel would point upwards a little about midway during the trigger pull. He didn't have enough range time to become familiar with his weapon.

Our daughter bought a 380. Again the trigger pull was so hard she could not hit anything, and got rid of it. I bought her a single action revolver, and she shoots fine with that.

The point is, how many people are like that, buy some weapon that simply does not suit them, never learn to shoot it properly, and keep it around for self defense?

Look at self defense as YOUR duty to self, family, and those surrounding. If more people reduce the population of worthless pieces of bovine excreta, in the action of saving the lives of the helpless, the hopeless, and the innocent, the world will be a much better place…

6 Million out of 359 million. It's a start....

I see more and more open carry in NW NC ...
seeing the same here - MANY more. if not OPENLY carrying - OBVIOUSLY carrying due to the increase in noticeable (and obviously UN concerned) degree of printing

No open carry here but in our church of around 400-500 members, there may be 50 -75 that DON'T have CCPs. On any given Sunday morning I can count 2 to 3 dozen that I know of that always carry. There's probably way more that I don't know about that are carrying. Probably why Florida is also called "The Gunshine State".....

I wonder how they came up with those figures? I kind of doubt a lot of people would be willing to answer that question or at least not answer honestly. I'd like to think most would say none of your business.

I have not noticed any greater number of folks open carrying since Kemp decided to woo the vote. But there was always a large number of concealed carriers here.

Subtract 30m more illegals.
Pretty sure very few “under 18” carry (except for those Amish yutes) but not so sure about the 30m illegals. But the OP DID specify “Americans” so yea, I would say that gets us to 6 million out of 250 million….or 2.4% of us.

I'm pretty sure that number is just a guesstimate at best and way under counted. And if "they" actually knew the true number they'd shitte their panties!!
