Notebook attacked the other day...

Pow! Right in the kisser! Why? Heck I dunno. :shr: We use Zonealarm, but can't think of any virus protection we had that wasn't expired. :screw: Because we're on a home network, we have some protection from the router. So what happened? "Fatal error has occurred. Reboot and if that doesn't work, you're out of luck (screwed) and you'll have to restore." The desktop was gone. With the xp program you can date a restore, but couldn't access anything to GET THERE!! (sorry, getting emotional again) I gave it a complete restore...a real bummer since we had (((NOTHING))) backed up on hard copy!!!! (sorry) Anyway, this is a warning to me (and you?) to (((never))) ass(ume) that it can't happen to you.

Seems like all my free time is spent fixing some pc in this house. So, just for more emotional fuel, do any of you know what it was that attacked my computer?

well since it's been restored no one can tell, "Fatal error has occured" is just too generic.

Now if you could have booted into safe mode (by pressing F8 during the pc boot) you could have read the event logs for clues to the problem.

You may be able to reboot from the XP CD. If so, once cleaned, create a reboot CD (there's an option somewhere to do that, I just don't remember where - heh).
