CHAT Not in the Thanksgiving Mood this Year

50 years of family thanksgiving at brother's house ended this year. But, a few family members from the cities called a few family members from no. mn., they all decided who was going to make and bake what, then 2 families met half way in-between cities and no mn. and exchanged prepared and frozen food, brought it back to respective cities and towns and delivered a thanksgiving meal to all family members...40+ of us this year. What an awesome endeavor they pulled off. I am so very thankful for my family.

I am also bummed some since my partner of 27 years passed away 3 1/2 years ago...however my great grandson was born just about that time......new life to be thankful for.

My wish for this season is that the love in our hearts can reach out to each and every one of us in out internet family, from one to another, so that we may be held, and feel love and comfort from one another in our aloneness...

I live alone. If something happened to me medically, I’d want to be able to call for help.
That, beloved Curmudgeon, is the only reason I now have a cell phone. Family insistence. I venture into rough lands at times into which an old man should not venture.

I do, however, turn off this cell phone at night.

If I die in bed, I die in bed. Admittedly, I am a few years your senior.

I'm not trying to be snide or make lite of your mood or feelings . . . just trying to help with some top-of-the-mind brain storming. Things for which to be thankful:
  1. Family (doesn't matter if they're near, far, or even alive)
  2. Friends
  3. Food
  4. Air
  5. Life
  6. Sunshine
  7. Creator/Lord (however your worship)
  8. Today
  9. Yesterday
  10. Your age (if you're old, be thankful for still being here - if you're young, thankful for youth)
  11. Living at this point in human history
  12. All you've learned in your life
  13. Snow (if you're in that climate)
  14. No Snow (if you're in that climate ;) )
  15. Books
  16. Music (which ever genre you enjoy)
  17. TB2K :)
  18. The fact that you are somehow 'online' and can read this list via technology
  19. You've lived in multiple centuries
  20. A starry sky at night
Again, just trying to throw some ideas your way. (my family calls me the "Glass is overflowing" optimist - LOL)

Glad to know if you were in a pile of manure you'd be sure Dobbin was there to visit.

I slept all day. I just woke up a few hours ago to eat the thanksgiving meal my DH picked up from one of the local diners. Missed the family zoom call at 2pm (my extended fam’s a bunch of liberals)... i guess i needed sleep. lol. Just feeling funky.

Happy Thanksgiving anyway, everyone!

Breeta, I hope you just needed a lazy day... we all do, once in awhile! But, just in case- a reminder that one of the earliest signs of COVID (and often, the only sign) is unusual fatigue. You might want to up your elderberry (or other antivirals) intake for a few days, just in case you've been exposed.

Hoping you feel better soon!

It’s also one of the symptoms of dementia... which is now a covid symptom.

Bummer. Just so others know, I checked the L-tirosine for drug interactions and see that it's contraindicated for people taking thyroid meds, thyroxine, synthroid ect. :(

summerthyme, I'm sorry to read about your husband. I'll be praying for him. Is he very sick?

Strange days, almost 30 family members last year for Thanksgiving just 5 of us this year.
I'll just make myself a Pimm's #1 and Ginger ale this evening and enjoy the blessings we have.
