What we will need to do as a nation is to be careful to find out if someone's citizenship is something recently granted by another country or whether it is their origination point. There are far too many people with "dual" citizenship that could be missed by any restrictions put in place for visas, etc.

This is only partially true. A story was posted here a few years ago that detailed the biggest reason. Seems that the “homeless” Palestinians put a lot of political pressure on Israel, and made Israel look bad. If the other countries were to take them in, that “lever” would go away.
