New Members Check-In Thread...

Hello and good morning - I have been an occasional lurker here for at least since before 9/11 and maybe (hazily recall) even actually just before 2K. I got turned onto TB2K by my brother (RIP). I have an older sister that has lurked on here for years and years as well. In honor of my brother's memory, I decided to finally make it official and rejoining as I have long, long lost my old account credentials that I probably never used anyway. I look forward to participating when I can going forward. I grew up in New England, and now my family and I live in Wisconsin.

Hello everyone,
Longtime lurker, first time poster. I'm generally not one to proffer my thoughts and opinions unless asked, so I'll primarily be a wallflower here occassionally spicing up a thread or two only if needed.
I'm a Texas transplant (17yrs) originally from Indiana. I consider myself conservative but am beginning to eschew the word Republican. I am a special ed teacher living in the ass-crack of Texas less than 7 miles from the border - so if you're curious about how it actually is down here as opposed to what you read in the news, don't be afraid to ask.
I know a little bit about a lot of stuff, and enough to know that I know nothing, but want to learn it all.
I'm glad to have finally joined and hope I can offer some helpful thoughts and/or ideas

Hello everyone! Quick note to introduce myself. Cardinal is a friend of mine. I'm Libertarian, not ashamed to admit it. I'm not into terrorism, so if you support BLM or any groups affiliated, we will not get along at all. I support our men and women in blue, and definitely support our military.

Hi there!
up until recently i would have labeled myself a liberal. I wasnt too happy about 2016 but i wasnt one of those screamers and criers. I was younger and dumber wasnt in to the electoral college and all that. In 4 short years I went from lib to conservative. i believed all the stuff on the news hated fox all that but I am a patriot and as a child I considered myself one. The thing I cared about the most is the constitution and upholding it. When that started coming into question I stopped listening to msm and just started going to the source. Learning everything the current admin was doing and how much better my life was getting. cancel culture was violence towards free speech and It was blm turning full on bolshevik that made me walk away from anything dnc. Now instead of slamming trump on twitter I'm on parler talking about all the things they dont want you to see and hoping to instill some patriotic duty on those sitting on the fence about what to do.

in other words, happy to have been directed here.

Egregious1, I spent half my life as a left coast liberal. I can relate.

Welcome to all the new folks. Strap in and hang on, it gets bumpy from here.

The fits may have decreased, but my temper has grown much shorter (sigh)

Fortunately, all I normally do is bitch at people rather than booting them. (Notice that Sat's Banhammer has been essentially silent for several years now? THAT'S just odd...)

As part of our enhanced board security procedures, we are now requiring all new members to check in and let us know you are here by posting to this or any other thread within 1 week of registration.

Every Friday evening, we will purge all members who have been registered for more than 1 week but have never posted.

Since we no longer allow non-posting members, this "check-in" post may serve as your one and only post if you simply want to be a registered "lurker".

But don't be just a lurker!

Everyone has something to contribute!

BEFORE you post your first post, please read the Rules for Posting that are at the top of just about every page on this board.

By posting your first post in here or on any other thread, you signify that you HAVE read the Rules for Posting.

Thanks, and welcome to Timebomb2000!

Kris

Edit to add:

I just want to caution everyone that we have a lot of new members, many of which are long-time lurkers who have been around as long or longer than many of us. They are just as much a part of this board and their posts, now that they have "de-cloaked" so to speak, are just as valuable as any of us oldtimers' posts.

That being said...

The flip side of that coin is that the only way we "know" people is by their posting history...

Regardless of how long you have been lurking and how much you feel like you know all of us and wish to now contribute (and we DO welcome such contributions), please keep in mind that we don't "know" you...yet.

And please bear with us until we DO get to know you a little better.

As many of you know, we have recently come through a difficult time on the board. We HAVE had some "hit-and-run" troublemakers and trolls who just love to toss out some heated or controversial tidbit and watch the fur fly.

Keep in mind that WE (the mods and admins and the other members) cannot easily tell the difference between a recently de-cloaked, long-time, sincere lurker turned poster and a "hit and run" troll looking to stir up trouble.

Please bear that in mind if some of us appear rather sensitive to certain posts in this time of tremendous sensitivity and uncertainty and potential dis-information.

I hope you new members with relatively few posts under your belt can understand that the rest of us cannot readily assume ANYTHING about any poster with relatively few posts.

Like it or not, in this medium, you earn your stripes via your posts...so please DO post and let us get to know you through your contributions but PLEASE do not take offense if we question, ask for further clarification, evidence, links, etc.

I hope this came out like I intended it...

Kris

My account now lists 102 or some such messages. Does that mean I might now be allowed wider access on this forum?

Hi, tried to join several times, tech level just above the amish. Lurked for year. Terrific forum, wealth of info. In Northern Mi. Reasonably safe area, but stuck with an evil communist governor. God bless you all
Welcome!
