Trying to hang out with the cool kids.
I am glad I finally joined after lurking for years , This place is nice and friendly and more important for me the board is polite and we'll moderated , I have recommended this forum to a few older wiser members who would fit in perfect here , so I am glad to hang up my hat and make myself at home and give you a perspective from across the pond , so a big hello to all the members here and thank you for the warm welcome
Welcome! Usually Jward provides the "endless" coffee. I help out when I can! We had to BAN Sarah from the break room.

Hello future friends,

My handle is Southern Hen. I am an older lady, located in the very RED part of rural, west Tennessee.

I am a widow. I keep busy raising vegetables in my garden, raising a small flock of chickens, and lurking on TB2K.

Thank you for allowing me to join you on this board,

Welcome from someone's who ancestors go waaaay back in your area. In Northern Idaho now, but still have many relatives down there. This board has some of the best people on the internet. I've learned sooo much from them over the years.

Hello everyone, Wicket here.
Been a lurker since at least 2015, maybe earlier. Guess my application for registration back in 2021 did take effect, just missed the email in the junk folder : ( Thanks to whom ever remade the application this morning.

I'm from southern ontario, born in 1987 and raised in a large town(not city) outside of the GTA. Dad was a welder, mom was a florist/gardener. I've taken on machining as my trade, and I love it. Something about making parts for something that can do the work of 100s of people, or to supply power/food stuffs, is really satisfying after a long week.

The name comes from my cats, which I think I got from an e'wok in starwars, always named them wicket like snowball from the simpsons. On Wicket the 4th now, wicket the 3rd was the best mouser ever. Thank you guys for the diatomaceous earth thread, it allowed me to control the tape worms that the mice had now and then.

Welcome and I lurked awhile myself even though I was on the Old Board.

Haha, yeah. Was obvious why I tried in 2021, but recently I felt I wanted to be able to take part in the generational divide posts that were up on the main page last week. Would be good to get in touch with other Canadians as well.

Thanks Mikeabn, and West. I do remember rotary phones, drive a manual car, grow a small garden, can read a vernier scale, sharpen a drill, and I'm currently manual machining at the place I'm at now. Hopefully one of those count!
