know enough about grandfather type clocks to be dangerous >>> be as gentle as you want - and - you're still going to need a tech to get that f___king sucker working right again - just scooting them across the same room floor is bad enough - you always add that tech cost into buying a used one ....

you call your local car dealerships about a rental? - some are into that biz - you might be surprised at the $$$$
We have and have had for decades several old (1800's to early 1900's) windup clocks. I'm hoping by removing the weights/pendulum and using the locking mechanism for the works, it will be in good operating shape when we arrive back home.

Hadn't thought about an actual car dealer for a rental, will look into that later today,
Thank you !

Yes, most of my life. Tennessee seems much more my style now. Columbus changed over the last few years. Not for the better.
I grew up in NW Cols. Eric and I moved to TN in '89. It was a big change for me then, but there is no way I'd move back. Cols. has most definitely changed as you say, not for the better.

Tried to get some of my family to move many years ago, but no luck. I have a nephew and his wife who may be interested in moving down (former military, now a LEO). Would love to have them near us.

Neither here nor there.

When I moved to Iowa in 1993 we, my roommate her boyfriend and myself, rented a white ford econoline ford van. He took the back seats out, and we filled it up with my stuff. They dropped me off at Iowa state univ, and then drove to Iowa city, picked her sister and her things and moved her to St. Louis, she was a med school graduate. I think we paid $300 for the van.

That's for sure! I was in Beechwold and that started to go bad. A real shame because I liked being down the street from a Kroger and a Target.
