This may be a wider plan to force Israel to backdown. From my reading on things Israel will gentrify Palestine. Then they will do the same to the West bank. Then focus on Lebanon. Jordan has been straddling the fence but has been pretty much leave us out of it sort of deal from what I gather.

I dunno. Just because Israeli TV ran the story doesn't mean I'm yet sold on it- Iran says it didn't happen, but of course, they'd say that whether or not it happened, so :: shrug ::

Either way we're definitely seeing and feeling this slow ooze into a broader, hotter conflict.

My guess is Mossad pulling this off. ISIS isn't sophisticated enough to hit 16 ships at once. And note it's Revolutionary Guards ships, most likely torpedo boats/ PT 109 type boats. Not the Kidd class destroyers the regular navy uses.

And a hit on the Rev. Guards is a direct challenge to the upper levels of the Iranian government. Not your normal attack on one military to another. No, whoever did this stunt aimed it squarely at the top Iranian leaders, goading them to retaliate.

And I would agree-"some" state actor is trying their best to drag the Iranian .gov into a much wider, much bloodier regional war.

If Iran has a 2 front war they will likely have issues maintaining control on top of the internal strife...

A 2 front war from the Iranian standpoint would stretch their internal control issues to the breaking point.

Iran is actually a fairly young society-lots of 20 to 40 somethings in the population. They don't have the freedoms of other countries in the region and resent that. There's also a 30% plus unemployment rate among that same demographic.

When the woman was killed in police custody last year for not wearing a hijab; the demonstrations and violence were almost impossible to control on the part of the government.

The prospect of a war, especially with the memories of the meat grinder the IRan Iraq war was; would toss the entire country into another revolution. This time though it would be for more freedom and no more mullahs and morality police dictating their lives.

IE Iran is a powderkeg as it is now; they're just waiting on the spark to blow it apart.

And why Iran has been trying to back track as they realized too late that all i will take is a few targeted attacks and it will be game on for revolution. The irony would be if a Christian government came in and replaced the current one.

The news about #Israel's attack at #IRGC Navy in #Ahvaz is fake. The video showing several boats on fire in #Iran is actually recorded in Salakh fishing port of #Qeshm Island! It has occured two days ago! It has nothing to do with Israel! Here is another footage of the fire. These were fishing boats and that is not an IRGC Navy base. No civilian is allowed in IRGC Navy boats to film a fire that easily!
