I am praying for you.
The son of my long-term attorney and friend took his life about three years ago. He was 20. One the surface, had everything going for him. Yet a tortured soul.
I asked her how she faced this. They are a Christian family and they have the hope of the resurrection, her answer surprised me a little, but it's true...
She said that, when our children are small, we do all kinds of things for them, maybe not what we want, but things that need doing, as parents, we do them because they need done. Change diapers, get up in the night when they are sick, teenage years, and more. She said that keeping on through this horrible situation is one more thing that she needs to do for her son.
I know this is hard for her. Humbling for me to hear. Encouraging to hear her basement foundation of resolve, not some sugar-coated bandaid.
I had come to say that our Father is not mad at her son. We are covered by Jesus' sacrifice. I believe that's true.
And I learned something from her about loving my children. More.

Anney, I hope you find some encouragement in this. I am so sorry for your loss.

I’m so very sorry. My son died of an overdose 2 years ago. You are correct, you will be forever changed. Prayers for moments of peace for you and his children. They will be hard to come by at first but with time they will be more frequent

This too shall pass.
I am so sorry. There is nothing harder to deal with for the family left behind than suicide. Praying for you and your family.

I am crying for your loss. I understand what you are going through and you will never recover, but eventually will get a little easier. My son in law did the same thing a few years ago and left behind two small boys. I worked with his mother and watched her cry every day for two years. I still cry when I think about it since I was there when it happened. I had to be the one to tell my daughter. Life will go on but will never be the same. Prayers for your family. They just do not understand when they do something like this, they hurt so many more people than themselves. You will feel a lot of emotions, denial, anger, sadness and guilt. I am still going through the guilt side since I talked to him on the phone that morning and knew something was not right. If I had only continued our conversation, maybe I could have stopped him. I have no other words other than take one day at a time and one day you will be able to smile again. Take care and God Bless.
