PREP My prep wish list, what is yours?

DEPLORABLE ME
Yes. Thinking a above ground water tank is a bit more of a liability, plus freezing problems in the winter. We are on a hill but would need to bury it under some inventive landscaping hill. So we could get gravity flow if needed.

We have a 3,000 gallon green plastic tank uphill from the house. In the winter when it gets as low as -7 F it has never frozen.
It absorbs a lot of sun during the day, I'm sure that helps. 16 years now, that tank looks the same as new.
Knock on wood.
That plastic is at least 1/2 inch thick.

Nothing unreal exists
I have a smaller, 850 gallon above ground tank on the north side of our home. Gets morning sun and a little bit of afternoon sun. White color. Winter temps dip down as low as -10 to -14F; New Mexico high desert. No freeze problem in 9 years.

Personal energy. Seriously. It's not realistic to expect to be able to work like I did in my 20s, but even with a great diet and good sleep, I still get to about 1 pm and that's about it for the day.

If I could at least hang in there until 5:00 pm (with some short breaks), I would be able to accomplish a lot more of my prep goals.

At least you can last until 1pm. I'm usually pretty done in by 10:30 AM. I do start between 4 -4:30 AM though...

I'm budgeting part of my stimuloot for a big stack of books. As I read them by the light of the kerosene lantern, they will keep me entertained as I wait for the canned chili to warm on the woodstove. Mostly mysteries.

A generator of some kind.

Someone to split and stack these monstrous piles of firewood we have that hub says he doesn’t have time/desire and energy to deal with :(
I told him winter is coming and he’ll be happy when it’s snowing out and there’s a fire going in the fireplace. I might look for someone else to help. He took down two large, dead trees last year so logs are seasoned by now.

I’d love for my basement to have shelving units to organize my storage.

I’m sure there’s more but that’s all I got for now.

land in the middle of nowhere....or just land.
a root cellar
more canning jars
solar power
a bigger generator
more protection

This too shall pass.
Our chimney cleaned and repaired, the wood stove installed, and a good stock of firewood purchased and stored under a roof (probably in the barn nearest the house).

Solar power for the well pump.

There are other things that would be handy, but those are the two biggest needs right now. Though freedom from pain would sure help with getting things done.

Lose weight because I know I would feel better and have more energy. It’s an ongoing battle.

Solar everything but I can’t get DH interested in doing that and it’s not something I can do by myself.

An outdoor wood-fired oven. I watch the My Self-Reliance YouTube channel and have serious envy of his outdoor kitchen.

Let's see.....

Another 650 gal black water tank uphill from the house. We already have one, but two would be better. More rain barrels.

A larger pantry room. We've turned our spare bedroom into a walk in pantry room, but I wish it was larger.

Razor wire to put across the top of our fenced property.

I too would ask to be younger and full of it, but only if my wife could do the same!

My goodness that would really suck if only I got the wish of youth.

Lol :D

Life is better in flip flops
We don't have a pantry or a basement so have to get creative with storage. I'd really like to have both but the house is paid off so really doubt we'll be moving. I would like to remodel the kitchen and add a couple of big pantry cabinets. That would help alot.

I spent 15 years chasing after and babysitting 10 grandkids. At year 16 I said no more! We went to New Mexico to spend 6months and I got sick so here we are 3years later. I want to get my ass back to Texas where I belong!
