Misc My First Canning

Kinda proud of myself. My sister brought over my Grannies canner, she helped me with my first canning of green beans and yesterday I did my first canning of squash. I was pretty scared, I could hear my Granny telling me to not run or jump cause the canner would blow up! Just wanted to share.
I have never canned before. I have put up pickles before, bread and butter and am working on a batch of Virginia Chunk in the crock now.
I'm going to try homemade spaghetti sauce and ketchup for the first time too.

Our old refrigerator just died, and instead of throwing it away we put it in the basement and use it as a pantry for my home-canned meats. They look so pretty lined up on the shelves.

Its work but worth it no refrigeration needed, but you do need to keep it from freezing.

I don't know what kind of pressure canner you're using and while some need to be carefully watched and the heat adjusted as the contents heat up, but it should not blow up that easy and all of them have pressure safety relief plugs that blow/pop out long before it gets to the point of blowing up.
