So, by way of update, Dad seems reasonably well. Apparently he's unconcerned about the whole thing and was engaged in a little light puttering around when I found him. The blockage is apparently not only small, but partial, so he's expected to do all right with the anti-clotting drugs. Dad is sanguine about the whole business, considering it just "one more pill in (his) old age." To which I had little response but that it seemed reasonable enough.

A second update, this time with due praise for God and thanks for all the prayer support out here. A trip to the family doctor basically has dad on the mend. He'll be taking the clotting drugs for the next three months, but he's been cleared to do pretty much anything short of "going to Cedar Point, walking around all day, and then coming home and cutting three loads of wood." Which, for him, was the rough part; he's not the type to sit around much.
