Currently, multiple law enforcement and other emergency personnel are on the scene as multiple teens have shot at Schrom Hills Park in Greenbelt, Maryland. Police say between 500-600 teens were gathered for senior skip day, initially for a large water gun fight, when shots began to ring out. Officials are reporting that five teens have been shot, with critically injured individuals taken to hospitals

Two of my "white" classmates died in a firey car crash on senior skip day. It'll be 40 years ago next month.

That's the same year I lived there, but we were only there during summer vacation. We lived in an apartment complex about 1/2 mile from the Space Flight center. My father was a physicist doing atmospheric research for the .gov. His prior speciality was EMP research at a National Lab. Such a shame this has come to this hood rat violence.

We went to the Mall in DC one night and went ice skating on the reflecting pool of the Capitol. The Capitol would move huge lights, along with the massive amount of lightning on the Mall, was plenty bright to enjoy.

So it's changed that much. From 1982 to 2024.

Snot we didn't have designated days to skip school when I was in HS. You just took it when you wanted to, I mean, needed to.

And if you got caught it was serious trouble.

Skip day Hummmm Why don't they schedule them during the summer months.

I lived in Greenbelt 1982-1984, it was predominantly white at that time. But you could see the writing on the wall of what was coming. That is why I bought a house on the Chesapeake Bay, and never looked back..

And the wonder is that it was probably a gang set up from get go. But still hundreds of willing victims showed up! Knowing at large black teen gatherings that guns always go off if someone accidentally gets their Nikes stepped on.
