Mozilla Firefox wipeout of bookmarks

Is there a problem with this browser-or did I press the wrong key?
I logged on and all my bookmarks (including imported ones from Explorer)
were gone. Not a one left.

Any ideas?

I have seen if you can get firefox to hang and then close it still runs as a process in the background and opening another firefox session will promt you for a new profile. If you choose ok all settings will be new for your "new" profile.

If this is not the case, what version are you running?

Just the standard 1.0, unmodified. It's as if I just started using it.
No history, no bookmarks. It seems slower, too. I checked for viruses.

I lost some great bookmarks. (sigh)

I've never run into any problems with Firefox 1.0. If you haven't gotten rid of Explorer you should be able to import your bookmarks over again. Go to Bookmarks/ Manage Bookmarks/ File / Import.

The ones in Firefox are gone, then? Forever? (snif!)
Check this location (win2000 or XP) for a backup or possible renamed file like bookmarks1.html
"C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\yourprofilename"

You may have 2 profiles with the older one containing the goods.
