And another way to get that 'useful info' is to start buying, "The Foxfire Book" series. On the cover of 'book 1' of the series that I have...under the title, it says what's written in it...
""Hog dressing, log cabin building, mountain crafts and foods, planting by the signs, snake lore, hunting tales, faith healing, moonshining, and other affairs of plain living"".
Now the 'log cabin building' tells you how and shows 3 different ways to build an actual log cabin...the way they did it 'way back when'.
And 'planting by the signs' does not mean planting your crops by a road sign or some other such 'sign'. It means planting by the 'stars', like the big dipper, for instance. And it tells what plants to plant next to each other so bugs will leave them alone. Plant string beans between stalks of corn. The corn gives the beans something to 'climb' on. And the bugs that feed on corn can't be anywhere close to string beans while the bugs that feed on string beans are allergic to corn. See how it works?
And 'faith healing'...there's certain verses in the Bible that can be read to heal wounds in a big hurry, and they point them out. So you can try them for your self. Lol, you wanting to get pregnant? And do you want a boy baby? Very simple...just follow the 'instruction' in the Bible for when a woman is 'clean' enough to have 'relations' with her husband. It's about a 75% surety that the baby so conceived will be a boy baby.
In another book I've got, it tells exactly how to make your own flintlock rifle...all the way from smelting the iron ore to making the tool for putting the 'rifling' in the barrel.
And in the 3 books I've got their instructions for doing all those thing are very easy to understand, too.
Lol, I really enjoyed reading mine. And if you check way back in the 'Book' section of TB2K, you'll find I've posted about these books before.

But they do have numbers. That's what I am saying ... it won't just be the government or the military. It won't just be the government and the military. All of those complying with what is going on will be part of the wave that comes crashing down on your.
Bottom line ... live well as long as you can, just don't be surprised when the wolf doesn't bother knocking. He'll simply level the flame thrower or use a drone to drop noxious chemicals (salting the land) to force the non-compliant into line.

I agree...all the way. I do believe that if 'they' try to pull that 'stunt' here, they would have to do it nationwide and all at the same time...to be even close to being 'successful'. Just once or twice or even 100 times and word would spread like a wildfire in a windstorm. And then the next time...

What is "money"? "Money" is a claim on the essentials of life. Ration cards are claims on essentials.
Many people expect "money" will soon be tied to commodities. Agreed. It's called a ration card that grants the holder the right to buy a specific quantity of essential goods at a specified price.
This right is a form of "money" directly tied to the value of commodities.
Ration cards are the only fair way to distribute essentials in times of chronic scarcity. Markets work fine when there's a substitute for whatever is scarce, but there are no substitutes for electricity, food, fuel or fresh water, the FEW essentials (Food, energy, water).
Leaving the distribution of scarce, no-substitutes essentials up to the market leads to the rich eating very well indeed and the poor going hungry.This leads to a little thing called the overthrow of the failed status quo and the destruction of a good chunk of its ruling class (Payback's a witch, etc.). No bread? Let them eat iPhones.
We know ration cards work because a mass experiment in rationing essentials was conducted in World War II. Maybe fairness no longer matters (and if it doesn't, then prepare for the overthrow of the failed status quo and the destruction of a good chunk of its ruling class), but if fairness matters--or the ruling elite wish to keep all their power and all their goodies--then rationing and the ruthless suppression of price gouging are as good as gold.
What is "money"? "Money" is a claim on the essentials of life. Ration cards are claims on essentials, enforced by the state to insure everyone has a minimum of the FEW resources. Beyond that minimum, the market will discover the price of extra goodies. But the point is that ration cards are a fair form of "money."
With a little digital magic, ration cards can't be counterfeited or used by anyone but the person to whom they were issued. If you get your ration and don't need all of it, nobody's stopping you from selling it to somebody else. But at least everyone got the same amount at the same price.
How valuable is ration-card "money"? Let's put it this way: if you're a wealthy, powerful member of the ruling elite, how much would you pay to avoid the overthrow of your regime? If creating ration-card "money" saves your bacon, then what other form of "money" has more value than that?
The other form of "money" that will be valuable isn't even tangible. It's called self-reliance. More on that later.

Splitting family's up and making them work where they choose.....gonna get ugly before any ration cards come our way. I too think they will be ebt cards, walmart will bank on it....

If we lived in a world that still shared and lived those values, there would be no questions; the point is that, of course, we do not. In this world, on this side of the looking glass where we find ourselves, up is down and in is out and iirc the concern with those constitutional principles are literally, not figuratively, one of the tells cited by our government of domestic terrorist or possible radicalization.

Then it's better to garden out of sight of your "neighbors". Again, a major failing of "tribe." It depends on people NOT being compliant. The more in your "tribe", the more likely you are to find compliance somewhere.

I don't know which "stunt" y'all are talkin' bout, but as other posters have pointed out, it's not just you vs the gov, but you vs the gov and their insanely radicalized cray-cray karens. I am pulling #s outta my neither regions at this point, but am willing to bet that there are far far more of "them" than there are of "us"... and a far too large # of "us" are really "thems" or will be the moment we feel the least lil bit o' pressure : (

Or 'garden' stuff most people don't consider to be food...cattails, dandelions, bamboo, prickly pear cactus...and a whole lot of other plants. I've eaten bamboo and have a goodly little 'forest' to harvest from.

Absolutely true, and was successfully employed by the old-timers to maximize their cropping/hunting successes.
Nothing woo about it, at all. Old timers/native Americans all knew and understood the cycles of nature, for their geographic area - they HAD to know this info, backwards and forwards, if they intended to not only to survive, but THRIVE and successfully raise and feed/care for a family - men AND women were very attuned to nature's cycles for EVERYTHING in their lives.
Today's folks, for the most part, have lost this knowledge and understanding. However, the knowledge is not completely dead.

Today's world is about communications and data analysis. Say a gov agent is scheduled to visit your place at noon on Monday. He's all GPS'd up, so the agency knows exactly where he is at all times. If there is no word back from him by 5, take a guess what is going to happen next?

Now this wouldn't happen, currently, because no agent would be scheduled for a visit. It would happen in a SHTF time, when resources are scarce enough for the gov to put some resources on the line in order to extract much more resources.
All of that stuff is clearly explained and plotted out annually in a Farmer's Almanac. Lunar phases, sunrise/sunset, planting "by the signs", optimal fishing timetables, etc. For coastal residents, it's valuable to have the tide tables, too. Buy one every year if you can.
