VIDEO Moby Dick!

Here's an example of fine, old style movie making in the 1956 film, Moby Dick. The film is directed by John Huston and features Gregory Peck as Captain Ahab. Personally, I really enjoyed seeing a real old square-rigged ship and all of the scenes showing the sailors handling the rigging. It's very historically authentic and was (obviously) done with no CGI.

Run time is just under two hours.

There was no "age restricted" notation on YouTube when I loaded the vid last night. I can only assume it was because of snowflake-sensitive "violence" in the movie. The supposed violence seems to be a shipboard knife fight amongst crewmen and - of course - harpooning the poor wittle whales.

There's a member here who frequently signs off with "Please come Jesus." Personally, I think Jesus would probably be disgusted with the lot of (most) effeminate, snowflake, pantywaist contemporary Americans!

You know, when I first saw the thread title, I was afraid it had something to do with Stacey Abrams.

Now THAT certainly needs an age restriction!

I watched this movie a lot as a child. Moby Dick is one of my favorite books. My grandfather used to read it to me when I was little.

Mystic Seaport in Mystic CT has the whaling ship Charles W Morgan. I believe it is the last whaling ship left. The video mentioned above was filmed on it. You can still smell the oil i the ship.
