Arrow and Thaad systems fail to intercept ballistic missile, resulting in injuries to civilians at Ben Gurion Airport. Defense Minister: "Whoever attacks us will be struck sevenfold."

Dramatic footage released this morning (Sunday) reveals the moments when a ballistic missile fired from Yemen struck Ben-Gurian Airport.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated, "Following the sirens that sounded in a number of areas in Israel, several attempts were made to intercept the missile launched from Yemen. A fall was identified in the area of Ben-Gurion Airport. The incident is under review."
Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that several civilians were slightly injured as a result of the fall near Terminal 3, the airport's main international terminal.

The defense establishment estimates that the air defense systems missed the missile and were unable to intercept it. Both the Arrow and Thaad systems were deployed in failed interception attempts.
Defense Minister Israel Katz stated following the missile attack, "Whoever attacks us will be struck sevenfold."

A ballistic missile launched from Yemen has hit the perimeter of Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport, damaging a road and a vehicle and causing air traffic to stop, according to photos and footage verified by Al Jazeera.

The Israeli military confirmed its defence system failed to shoot down the projectile on Sunday morning despite several attempts to intercept it, adding that an investigation was under way. Eight people were injured, according to paramedics.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who have been carrying out attacks against Israel in stated opposition to its war and blockade on the Gaza Strip, claimed responsibility for the missile launched at Israel’s busiest airport. More than 18 months of Israeli attacks on Gaza have killed at least 52,495 people, including 57 who starved to death due to the total Israeli siege since March 2, according to Palestinian officials.

In a televised statement, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree warned airlines that Ben Gurion airport was “no longer safe for air travel”.

The attack led to a brief suspension of flights at the airport in central Israel with some having to be redirected. All entrances to the airport were also briefly closed while train journeys towards the site were halted.

Sirens blared across central Israel, prompting many to move into shelters, according to Israeli media.

Videos of the site of the impact circulating online showed the missile hit a connecting road inside the perimeter of the airport with some debris scattered on adjacent roads.

Several airlines cancel flights to Ben-Gurion Airport for 24 hours following Houthi missile crash
Since the missile strike, El Al’s stock has surged by over 5%.

Following the Houthi missile crash at Ben-Gurion Airport due to the failure of Israel's defense systems, several airlines canceled their flights to Israel for 24 hours on Sunday.

Germany’s Lufthansa Group announced flight cancellations, including by its subsidiaries Swiss, Brussels Airlines, and others.

In addition, American carriers United and Delta—both of which had only recently resumed flights to Israel—have also canceled their flights, along with France’s Transavia and its Air France, Air Canada, Japan’s Nippon Airways, Spain’s Air Europa, and British Airways.

Budget airline Wizz Air announced it would suspend flights to Israel until Tuesday morning. Spain's Iberia airlines also canceled its flights, as well as Azerbaijan AIrlines.

Delta Air Lines cancelled its flight on Sunday from New York to Tel Aviv, as well as its returning Monday flight.

This incident is considered one of the most serious failures in Israel’s missile defense system.

Ben-Gurion Airport remains Israel’s primary international transportation hub, and missiles from the Iranian “octopus” axis—whether from Syria, Gaza, or the Houthis—are targeting it specifically to trigger this wave of flight cancellations.

Investigation of dual failure of defense systems

The IDF is expected to investigate the dual failure that allowed a missile fired from a great distance in Yemen to evade both American and Israeli defense systems, setting Israel back to a period of empty skies, flight cancellations, and anticipated fare hikes among Israeli airlines.

Meanwhile, since the missile strike, El Al’s stock has surged by over 5%.

In an update, Magen David Adom says six people were physically hurt in the Houthi missile attack on Ben Gurion Airport.

They include a man in his 50s in good-to-moderate condition with trauma to his limbs and two women, aged 54 and 38, in good condition who were hit by the shockwave.

A man, 64, was lightly hurt after he was hit by an object that flew from the impact site, and two more women, aged 22 and 34, were lightly hurt while running for shelter, MDA says.

Another two people were treated for acute anxiety.

The wounded were taken to hospitals in central Israel.

My first thought in reading this is wondering if this strike involved countermeasures on the incoming Houthi/IRGC missile such as chaff, flares or reflective balloons?

Next is whether a "third party" was watching for a pattern of system operation and this attack went in during a shift change or a maintenance cycle?

Either that or there were multiple missiles launched and this one happened to get through as happened in the big Iranian strike.

Yeah, that could definitely be a factor too.

This is going to get ugly very soon and the "Hunt for Red October" quote is cued up....
Turkey and Egypt are doing military maneuvers jointly. Iran is an unknown at this point. Egypt is in Sinai with all their new Chinese toys. They are practicing with China, and from what I'm told, Chinese advisors are in Egypt.

NOTE; We are in deep Kimchee.

If only it were Kimchee. The world is being drawn into the great steaming pile of feces that will soon hit the oscillating, rotary, impeller. When this happens, as Housecarl said, “This is going to get ugly, very soon…”

missiles are allowed thru all the time in a salvoy of launches - the final strike zone is determined and a yeh or nay to intercept is made - that's how the Dome type systems work ....

this had to be some kind of countermeasures involved - anything near that area would be an intercept for sure >>> better hope they figure it out FAST - Iran just might take a "**** you US" chance and launch on Israel again with a massive hit ....

now - the US is going to be obligated to make another monster of all monster strikes on the Houties - otherwise Israel is going in themselves and not bothering to care whether it's Iranian or Houtie getting hit .......

The Israelis may also not "pull their punches" with regards to "munitions" either along with the targets they "reply to". The need to generate a big enough "shock" to reintroduce a factor of "deterrence" and "reset" the situation is growing too fast.

Every commercial building constructed in Israel since around the year 2000 must contain a concrete reinforced safe room in the center of the structure. They are quite used to rocket attacks at this point.

It is an interesting place for sure.
