I need to upgrade my medical preps and was wondering about sources and suppliers? Any good sources out there at reasonable prices?

All depends on what type of med preps you need. TQs? Chest Seals? IV supplies? Hemostatic Dressings? Foley Cath?

Atlantic Medical Supply has IV fluid on sale right now, no prescription required. Then there are other sources for tubing and IV cath without prescription (If you have the knowledge and skill set for them)

You can get OTC antibiotics at farm and ranch stores before the end of the year. After that you will need a vet prescription. I also get syringes and needles from those stores too. Lots of animal use items can be used on people.

Allegro medical for foley catheters and many other things.

Ebay actually ha some good stuff for great prices. Chest seals for 10-12 as a two pack, 2 Packs - Halo Chest Seals 2 Per Package EXP: 2020-08 Occlusive Dressing | eBay

As far as TQs, stick with real name brand like CAT or SOF-T Wide. Beware of clones and knock offs

You can actually get IV Admin set (tubing) on Amazon. They have a fifty pack of IV tubing kits for $75.

IV cath, shop around, some places require med approval, some do not, its a crap shoot sometimes

And on ebay inder piercing supplies-

What else do you need?

As for the latest in Combat Trauma Care guidance-

Prolongedfieldcare.com

The big thing is most places have restrictions on one part. The bag or the cath. The trick is to find two places to get what you need.

Get skills FIRST.
I have to respectfully disagree.

While skills are indeed essential, most of our medical supplies and drugs come from China. And the window is closing to get a lot of them.

In addition, even if people don't know how to use what they have, they should have on hand what a doctor will need to treat them and their family members.

The time is soon coming when we will all have to bring our own bandages.

By all means....get training, but at the same time get the medical supplies as much as you can. Better to have and not need than need and not have. Remember....BEANS - BULLETS - and - BANDAIDS!!

Basic first aid still needs medical supplies and there's a lot of expendables that every home should have....just in case. This whole idea that someone else will take care of you and supply vital materials you might need in an emergency is ludicrous. Just creating an airway, keeping them breathing and controlling bleeding will save a lot of lives. Everyone should know how to perform these basic emergency care.

Personally I believe that you shouldn't get a drivers license unless you've completed BASIC CPR and BASIC FIRST AID course. When I was in the 9th grade in Oregon EVERYONE had to take a class in basic civil defense. I still have the book they gave every student to take home. Every student learned basic CPR, Basic First Aid, Basic Civil Defense, prepping for emergencies and Basic Nuclear Defense. Now granted this was during the Cold War and back in the late '60s but all that training is as relevant today as it was then.

Having this basic knowledge is just good common sense. You can be the Ant or the Grasshopper.....choose carefully. Your life and the lives of your loved ones may depend upon it. When seconds matter, help is minutes and hours away.
