Misc Meat saws and Tenderizer

I picked up two commercial meat saws, 1 Hobart, 1 Biro and a Hobart tenderizer for basically scrap prices.

They are in the shop, going through tear-down and cleaning.

I'll sell the Hobart stuff and keep the Biro, just to have around.

It's going to be a fairly involved process, finding and making parts, etc.

Not really....but I want to have the capability.

I've been looking for a saw for 3-4 years, mainly to split pigs and cut pork chops.

It's basically this saw, just older. They are around $12,000 new.

They were in the backroom of a grocery store.

This is a regional chain, whoever is doing their maintenance and repair sucks.

I may try to get some of their repair business.

I was watching Storage Wars and one of the guys picked a HUGE unit of kitchen stuff, most of it was meh in quality and price wise, meaning it was very old as in 1960's old, and then they came across a meat saw and also a tenderizer, big, big, bucks for those two pieces of equipment.

Yeah, new retail on this equipment is getting close to $20K.

I wouldn't be surprised if on the meat band saws you could change the blades, and if needed adjust the speed and make them metal cutting beast.


Pretty sure one I had out west was used at one time as a meat cutter. Worked great on cast iron. Had all the different pulleys on the inside so you could simply move the belt for speed change and use different bands for cutting just about anything.

Meat saws are usually one speed.

If you had step pulleys, it was probably designed for metal.

Anymore, VFDs can do most of the speed control.

These saws are both 3 phase, a single phase motor is about $900. I can put a 3ph>1ph, drive on it for $200 and just lock the speed function.

I kick my self in the head everytime for leaving my 1960s era made in America band saw out west. Ignorantly I assumed I couldn't get any new blades for it. Move to Oklahoma and find out you can get them custom made here.
