"Massive" anti-Trump protest at the Deploraball in DC

Protesters outside the "Deploraball" have been hit with pepper spray grenades ahead of the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump. RT America is on the scene in Washington, DC.

Police fired some sort of tear gas at demonstrators, according to RT's Alexander Rubinstein. The protesters are throwing things at officers, including posters, water balloons and even a bike at one point.

"There are explosions," Rubinstein said.

The DeploraBall will be a celebration held at the National Press Club building in Washington, D.C. by Trump supporters and some members of the alt-right from January 19 to January 20 to celebrate the victory and inauguration of Donald Trump.[1][2][3] The name of the event is a play of Hillary Clinton's "Basket of deplorables" comment.[1][3][4]

Notable guests planning to attend the event included Roger Stone, Sheriff David Clarke, and James O'Keefe.[2] The event's previously proposed venue, the Clarendon Ballroom in Arlington, Virginia, received harassing phone calls after declining to host the event.[5][6] The event received further attention by James O'Keefe when he claimed that DisruptJ20 were plotting to use "stink bombs" during the event.[7][8] Jeff Ballou, the president of the National Press Club, stated that the club would neither endorse nor sponsor the DeploraBall.[2] Before the beginning of the event, organizer MAGA3X told TMZ that racist gestures (such as the Nazi salute) are banned from the event. Images of Pepe the Frog were also banned.[9]

Throughout the evening, hundreds of Anti-Trump protestors demonstrated outside of the National Press Club building.[10]

This is what I was afraid of. The DC police have clearly been given stand down orders. I saw multiple, multiple crimes being committed in front of the Deploraball.

I saw a bunch of thugs chasing Trump supporters through the streets. when they got to the entrance the DC police did absolutely nothing other than to stand there and shout, "stand back,' to the people chasing them. THEY SHOULD HAVE PEPPER SPRAYED THEM IMMEDIATELY AND ARRESTED THEM. Again, clearly they are being given stand down orders to ignore criminal activity.

The DC police have long been a worthless police force, only now it is live on tv for all to see. When they saw fires being set, they stood and looked on. When they saw people being chased they did nothing. When they saw people within inches of the police line at the ball room entrance they did nothing.
I was trained on riot duty. YOU NEVER LET POTENTIAL RIOTERS GET INSIDE YOUR ZONE WHICH IS USUALLY 3 TO 5 YARDS AWAY.
I repeatedly saw protesters within six inches of the police line. AGAIN, YOU GET OUT THE PEPPER SPRAY AND CLEAR THE ZONE OUT TO 10 TO 20 FEET.

The worthless DC police let the crazies completely fill the street, completely control the situation, engage in multiple crimes and only after watching this for a loong time did somebody, clearly not a command officer in the DC police issue the clear the street order.

IN all, this is one of theworst riot responses I have ever seen. Now we have worldwide, global news videos of THUGS AND SNOWFLAKES taking over several blocks of downtown DC, for an hour or two WITH NO POLICE RESPONSE TO MULTIPLE CRIMES.

If this is the level of incompetence by the DC police, we should all be concerned for Trump's safety Friday. The local clowns known as the DC police sure aren't going to do the job.

Inauguration Protests Events Anticipated in Downtown Portland on Friday and Saturday

The Portland Police Bureau is anticipating numerous protest events to occur in Portland in conjunction with the Presidential Inauguration. Most events appear to be scheduled for Downtown Portland; however there are some events over the weekend that appear to be set for Northeast Portland's Holladay Park, Southeast Portland's Mt. Tabor Park, North Portland's Columbia Park, and the East 162nd Avenue MAX Station.

The events on Friday January 20, 2017, are anticipated to begin starting at 12:00 p.m. and last throughout the afternoon. There could be an impact to traffic and TriMet has announced they have developed contingently plans for transit; riders should check http://www.trimet.org/alerts in advance of any travel to learn about service disruptions and route changes.

The "Women's March on Portland" is scheduled for Saturday January 21, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. as part of a national series of events. The event organizers have worked with City of Portland officials to ensure a safe and orderly event.

While most people attending these events may be peaceful, the Bureau has received information that some people interested in attending the protests may attempt to conduct criminal behavior similar to actions conducted in November 2016 after the election. The Bureau's goal is to facilitate a peaceful protest and to prevent criminal behavior from happening during the events.

Everyone attending any of the various protest events is encouraged to obey all laws and be respectful of others who are using city streets, freeways and mass transit. Marching into and blocking streets without a permit is illegal and dangerous to protesters as well as road users and has a significantly negative impact to our community. Pedestrians walking on the freeway is illegal and extremely dangerous to all road users.

The Portland Police Bureau will investigate reports of criminal behavior and work to identify suspects during and after any incidents. In November 2016 there were several incidents of criminal mischief resulting in arrests. Some of the suspects remain unidentified and pictures are posted at https://www.portlandoregon.gov/police/canyouidme/

The Bureau will provide updates via Twitter (@portlandpolice) as needed and will post news releases on significant events that occur as a result of the protests.

Heavily fortified? LOL Seriously? I counted 20 police standing there. It was estimated there were THOUSANDS of Snowflakes outside. I watched those 20 police get nearly overwhelmed several times. They did not have the police there to maintain door security. They allowed dozens of protesters to get right into the entry way. Yep, the DC police were told to stand down and allow the riots to continue unchecked for quite some time.
If 100 Snowflakes had stormed the entrance in one rush, it would have been all over for the deploraball. Clearly the Snowflakes didn't realize how incompetent the security was going to be, or else they would have taken advantage of it.
