Pain Mgmt Marijuana

Hello, guys, My state recently approved a Medical Marijuana law.

A little history. I was taking oycontin, 15 mg. 4 times a day. and one day, realized
it was killing me. I quit cold turkey and it's been over a year, almost two.
Never think about it now.

I wanted to get an overview from those I at least know on this forum.

I need help.

I am not going to smoke it but am a classic candidate for the program. I will be allowed to carry, possess and grow it, for can you believe, $10 a year?

Your help on how would be the best way to use it would be very appreciated.

I grew up in the 60's. HS grad 1965, saw it all. never used MJ even one time (and I saw Janis Joplin at the Monterey Teen festival in 1967), while in AIT at Ft Ord Ca.

Any help would be great. Thanks, Ray

My husband takes the oil. He replaced oxcycontin and Percocet which did not touch the pain in his back. The oil works wonders. We have dispensaries here and he buys it there. It's much easier than growing and processing it ourselves.

Hi Ray. I have been on medical mmj for almost a year now. I have severe arthritis in both knees. Make sure you get yourself a small water bong. This will rid alot of the smoke and impurities. I am maxed on my chemical prescriptions and for the first time in a long time, I don't worry about my pain meds.

You might want to check out https://www.leafly.com/ You can read about each strain and its various properties. There is also a reader comment section that is mostly informative sans a few losers.

For pain relief, I would look for primarily Indica strains or strains that have a high CBD AND THC ratios.

My wife has gotten herself off of regular use of Norco 10/325's in about 3 months. She's a 35 year quadriplegic who's got arthritis in her hips so badly she literally would break out in a sweat a minute after sitting up in her chair without some sort of pain relief. What has helped her pain the most is the CBD oil.

Several of the different vendors on Amazon have good quality oils, but they can't promote its CBD content explicitly (I guess due to the fact that cannabis is still Sch I) so there's "code speak" to determine what the CBD content is, and all claims are subjective and relative/vague. HOWEVER, the ones that help her the most are the ones that are labeled 'full-spectrum' and 'whole plant'. Hemp seed has little to no CBD in its oil, but the plant itself does. What this means is stay away from hemp seed oils. Those are good sources of Omega 3 fats, but won't get you very far for pain relief.

She's tried several different ones, generally in the $20-30 range for a 1oz bottle, which lasts her about a month. So very worth it to get away from the Norco!

Time to give you guys an update of my journey with medical marijuana, I have been on it about 9 months.
I took a hard impact when I was in the service. Received many injuries that I won't name here.

The army gave me narcotics and plenty of them. Long term, they almost killed me.
I decided, at my age, not to smoke so I tried tincture, (hard on the stomach) then gummy bears.

After I learned to grow then make them, a couple of gummy bears in the AM, then 2 more in the evening,
takes care of the pain and inflammation. Stress relief is a bonus.

Takes less than 1oz of bud a month. I use a strain w/both cbd and thc.

Will add, the dose is never to 'get high' but to get relief. I feel almost normal again.

With the excellent help from jazzy and huneybee, I have achieved results I didn't think possible, Thank you both.

My latest effort, my wife makes them for me, God bless her.

what a wonderful outcome. i know this stuff can do some terrific things for people to relive pain. one does not need to get high to get pain relief. it is great you found the right recipe that works for you. im jealous, never did master the gummy bear recipe, i need to try again.

I buy tinctures and gummies from my local dispensery. The CBN does allow me several hours sleep but I'm darned if I can find much pain relief in my neck from full spectrum CBD. How many mgs are you taking to find that pain relief.
I also have the THC and CBD combo but I'm kinda leery of taking it. Also this stuff is hugely expensive here in CA with all the taxes. Nothing to spend 3 or 4 hundred dollars at a time.

ive never had much luck using just cbd for pain re;lief.
i use a plant called medical mass, it is 50/50 thc and cbd at about 15% content. with that ratio there is no buzz--the key is make sure the cbd amount is equal to the thc. i hate that buzz feeling.

i make tincture and oil for capsule with this using both for fibro pain relief. its the only thing that ever helped me. i also use the same material to make a pain relieving salve, it is more concentrated.
there are alot of different recipes and products out there, just got to find the right one for you and good to learn to make your own if you can.

I was curious if CBD worked well for Fibro relief. I just got diagnosed with it a few weeks ago. Took them almost 6 months to get there and then there was the "begging" session with the pain management specialist to actually get me something for the pain. I secretly think she's a sadist or she graduated medical school at the bottom of her class.

lol---i dont trust 'pain management' folk and prefer to do my own research. i have a good recipe for cannabis oil that works very well, removes about 90% of the pain for me with an occasional minor episode. i learned its all aobut taking the capsules on time for even coverage. i use a 50/50 blend of thc and cbd, you can buy that or grow it, there is no buzz, just relief from the burning stinging stabbing pains. send me a PM if you are ever interested.

CBD just recently became legal in Texas so I'll have to research what my options are.

Thanks.

i wish you all the best and that you find the right thing for you!
Thanks. It only took them 5 months to come to a conclusion I came to over a year ago. Now we're playing spin the wheel on the medication to find what works. I had to beg for Tramadol and that's barely cutting it.
