However, UCSF infectious disease expert Dr. Phillip Norris clarifies that the data doesn’t mean the vaccine is not working.
He notes, first, the counties referenced with higher vaccination and case rates are more densely populated.
He also points to the reports of the delta variant carrying a significantly higher viral load than other variants.“If there are a lot of people around you’re more likely to bump into one who has COVID,” Norris explained.
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey also spoke out:“The CDC’s new guidance suggesting that vaccinated people wear masks indoors flies in the face of the public health goals that should guide the agency’s decision making. The State of Nebraska will not be adopting their mask guidance.”
“Public health officials in Arizona and across the country have made it clear that the best protection against COVID-19 is the vaccine. Today’s announcement by the CDC will unfortunately only diminish confidence in the vaccine and create more challenges for public health officials — people who have worked tirelessly to increase vaccination rates.”
Texas had previously issued a mask mandate in 2020, requiring citizens to wear masks indoors for 250 days. After that, Abbott issued an executive order preventing local governments from issuing their own orders.“Gov. Abbott has been clear that the time for government mandating of masks is over — now is the time for personal responsibility. Every Texan has the right to choose whether they will wear a mask, or have their children wear masks.”
“I’m concerned that this guidance will be used as a vehicle to mandate masks in states and schools across the country, something I do not support,” she continued.
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey also said she would not be taking additional steps to mandate the vaccine:“The CDC shifts their position AGAIN. South Dakota’s cases remain low. If you’re worried about the virus, you’re free to get vaccinated, wear a mask, or stay home. But we won’t be mandating anything. And the CDC’s inconsistency doesn’t help the American people.”
Meanwhile the line from the Biden administration has been that the new rules will help “avoid the kind of lockdowns, shutdowns, school closures and disruptions we faced in 2020.”“There are those who believe that government should mandate the vaccine or that we should bribe people to take it. That’s not going to happen in my state, no matter how many times the media ask me.”
"I am not so surprised that transmission rates are not neatly tracking immunization rates," said Dr. Stephen Luby, a medical professor specializing in infectious diseases at Stanford University.
Reports of the vaccines' effectiveness against the delta variant have been mixed. In Israel, the Ministry of Health suspects the protection afforded by the Pfizer jab might be as low as 64%."There are a number of issues that contribute to transmission," Luby said. "In high density urban settings, for example, even with a higher level of vaccine coverage, there can still be a lot of exposure to unvaccinated folks and potentially to folks who are vaccinated but are asymptomatically shedding the delta variant."
Although he acknowledges that the vaccine "does not make you impervious" to infection by delta, Dr. Gottlieb questioned whether the general guidance on mask-wearing is a smart strategy, claiming that returning to indoor mask-wearing in some areas would have only a "negligible impact" given the vaccination rates, even in the areas with lower vaccination rates and higher hospitalizations. Cases have been falling in UK and Europe, which many say portends a drop in the US as well."The bottom line is, the vaccine does not make you impervious to infection," Gottlieb said during an appearance on CNBC. "There are some people who are developing mild and asymptomatic infections even after vaccination."
Though he added that it's probably a good idea to mask up around an immuno-compromised individual, or somebody at heightened risk for infection."I don't think that's the case," he said. "I don't think we're going to get enough bang for our buck by telling vaccinated people they have to wear masks at all times to make it worth our while. I think we're further into this delta wave than we're picking up. I think in another two or three weeks we'll be through this."
On Wall Street and in the ivory towers of academia, many are predicting that delta won't penetrate very deeply despite the CDC's warnings about a "crisis of the unvaccinated". JPM and Goldman, among others, have projected that delta won't pose a substantial headwind to growth for any of the developed countries with high vaccination rates (Australia, notably, isn't in this group given it's low vaccination rate)."If you are vaccinated in a high prevalence area, in contact with virus, you think you might have the virus because you have mild symptoms--be prudent, get tested, maybe wear a mask especially if you are around a vulnerable person,"
“The largest concern that I think we in public health and science are worried about is that virus and the potential mutations. We have a very transmissible virus which has the potential to evade our vaccines in terms of how it protects us from severe disease and death,” Walensky said.
“Right now, fortunately, we are not there. These vaccines operate really well in protecting us from severe disease and death. But the big concern is the next variant that might emerge, just a few mutations potentially away, could potentially evade our vaccines.”
“We are dealing with a much different strain of this virus than we were even earlier in the spring, back in May, when the masking guidance was done — provided by the CDC at that time,” White House press secretary Jenn Psaki told reporters on Tuesday, addressing questions about the variant and the new CDC guidance.
[ZH: And finally, another conspiracy theory seems more likely to be about to become fact.]“Their job is to look at evolving information, evolving data, an evolving historic pandemic, and provide guidance to the American public.”
Pressed about the reason why masks in particular are necessary once again, Dr. Fauci offered a highly technical explanation that noneless doesn't really make sense when one considers the rates of new cases and hospitalizations in the highly vaccinated states."The Delta variant is the totally dominant variant now in this country, 88% as much as 90%+...but increasingly now people who are vaccinated are getting infected with the delta variant."
New data like these are the reason why the CDC decided to pull the trigger on the new federal mandate, and why President Biden may soon require all federal employees to get vaccinated. But Dr. Fauci insisted that the agency didn't "flip flop", but rather that "something has changed.""The data are clear ... that when a person gets infected who has been vaccinated ... and they get infected with the Delta variant, that the level of virus in their nasopharynx is about 1,000 times higher than with the Alpha variant."
What has changed is that across the country, deaths and hospitalizations have plunged. And unfortunately, the ultra-liberal jurisdictions where mask and vaccine mandates will be the most strict are the areas that least need these precautions. Notably, deep blue California is in the deep red category, while Texas isn't. Only the deep red and orange states need to observe the new mask guidance."Something has changed. And what has changed is the virus. The CDC hasn't changed, and the CDC hasn't really flip-flopped at all. What's happened is that when that earlier recommendation was made, we were dealing predominantly with the Alpha variant."
400 deaths of children since the start of the pandemic, a number that has reportedly grown more rapidly since the delta variant first emerged."We have about 400 deaths among children right now with Covid-19. So we shouldn't make the false assumption that it's okay for kids to get infected. ... We need to protect the children."

Some California counties with above-average vaccination rates are also reporting higher cases of the Chinese coronavirus, according to the Bay Area News Group’s analysis of state data.
According to Mercury News, the analysis found virus cases “soaring” in counties with high vaccination rates, including Los Angeles, San Diego, Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco. All of those areas boast higher vaccination rates, yet they are also reporting more new cases of the Chinese coronavirus. Meanwhile, five counties with below-average vaccination rates — Modoc, Glenn, Lassen, Del Norte, San Benito — have experienced a dip in new cases.
Despite that, experts contend that vaccines are still effective.
Per CBS Sacramento:
He also points to the reports of the delta variant carrying a significantly higher viral load than other variants.
All the while, federal health officials are continuing to promote widespread vaccines, although the Biden White House effectively undermined its own messaging on vaccine efficacy after touting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) updated guidance, recommending fully vaccinated individuals to wear a mask in certain indoor settings. Even White House press secretary Jen Psaki was unable to explain away the discrepancy in vaccine messaging.
“If vaccines work…then why do people who have the vaccine need to now wear masks?” Peter Doocy of Fox News asked her on Tuesday.
“The public health leaders in our administration have made the determination, based on data, that that is a way to make sure they’re protected,” she said.
Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC, has blamed unvaccinated people for reinstating mask guidance, claiming it “could have been avoided” if more Americans got the shot when the government instructed them to. At the same time, Walensky admitted they are worried the virus is “just a few mutations” away from evading vaccines altogether.
Pearlstein and Reinhold are federal employees who volunteered to be detailed to the shelter when the Biden administration ramped up staffing to accommodate the influx of unaccompanied children crossing the border by building emergency intake shelters like Fort Bliss and others.
NBC News previously reported that Servpro [!?], a company that specializes in disaster cleanup and has no child welfare experience, oversaw the care of nearly 5,000 children in Ft. Bliss in early May and June.
As a result of the government using contractors with no childcare experience, federal detailees with no background in child psychology were tasked with interviewing over 5,000 children to determine whether they need special attention due to sex or labor trafficking, or a history of other abuse. In their complaint, which was filed by lawyers from the Government Accountability Project, Pearlstein and Reinhold said two other contractors in addition to Servpro — Chenega Corporation and Rapid Deployment Inc. — also handled the close to $1 billion in contracts the federal government paid to operate Fort Bliss. None of the three companies had child care experience and they did not properly vet applicants to be sure they had relevant experience, they said.
They also alleged there was widespread lice in girls' tents that was left untreated. And in May, they said, there were riots in some of the boys' tents.
"Ms. Reinhold witnessed security contractors surrounding a tent during one incident. Detailees were never briefed about the riots or trained on how to act in the event a riot broke out," the complaint said.
They were not specific about which company was to blame for giving children false hope, manage lice outbreaks or riot response.
Pearlstein and Reinhold said they voiced their concern to Chenega about children having no clean underwear.
We can only conclude, of course, that they're killing people."The problem persisted for weeks and months," they said. "Each time the answer was that the shipments had not come in."
Information about the inventor of the mRNA technology used in certain COVID-19 vaccines was removed from the online encyclopedia site Wikipedia after he publicly warned against giving the experimental gene therapy vaccines to young people and that there was insufficient information about the injections to give informed consent. . . .
On June 10, 2021, Dr. Malone joined biologist Bret Weinstein, Ph.D, on the Dark Horse Podcast, where Malone raised numerous safety concerns about the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, both of which use mRNA technology. He warned about future autoimmune issues caused by the spike proteins within the mRNA injections.
This is the kind of authoritarian censorship carried out by Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin and Pol Pot. When the media and the Government conspire to quash dissenting opinions and legitimate, provable facts, we have crossed the threshold of fascism.Malone also stated that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was aware that the spike proteins were “biologically active and could travel from the injection site and cause adverse events, and that the spike protein, if biologically active, is very dangerous.”
YouTube swiftly moved to censor clips from the three-hour podcast interview.
Dr. Pierre Kory told the world on December 8, 2020, that Ivermectin “obliterates” this virus. Obliterate means to decimate, demolish, or annihilate. It means to eliminate or destroy all trace, indication, or significance.
It is your duty as an American to challenge and question everything the Government represents as true. We now have concrete evidence that Dr. Anthony Fauci has taken diametrically opposed positions without blinking an eye. Some call that “lying.” The same with the CDC (as I pointed out in my last article). Perhaps the CDC should be renamed the Center for Disinformation & Confusion in light of the contradictory guidance issued regarding masks and vaccines. This graph shows that Ivermectin, used in Delhi beginning April 20, obliterated their COVID crisis. No one should be able to talk you out of this – not a salesman, a drug company, a television celebrity doc, and certainly not the top doctor for the WHO or the NIH who is paid to do that.

Iceland: Vaccines do not work
Iceland has been a vaccine paradise: Some 90 percent of people between the ages of 40-70 and 98 percent of those over 70 are fully vaccinated. On June 26, it abolished all lockdown rules. "Thank you for this joint struggle," the Health Minister told citizens. Now the country could be heading for new lockdown restrictions for the next five, ten or fifteen years.

Iceland is setting daily records for new infections, mostly among the vaccinated. Epidemiologist Þórólfur Guðnason announced the bad news that restrictions would persist for perhaps decades because vaccines do not work.
Asked if there was no clear path out of the epidemic, now that measures are being proposed despite vaccinations, Guðnason said the virus was “unpredictable and something new comes up that changes what you thought a few months ago”.
He also said that the protection of vaccines against infection was “lower” than previously thought.
He said that the new lockdown measures he proposed should take effect as soon as possible. “I believe that if people decide on certain actions, then there is nothing left to wait for. Then I think people should make it take effect as soon as possible.”
At the information meeting is was highlighted that those who were vaccinated with Janssen would receive another vaccination product. The Pfizer vaccine would be used as there was a sufficient amount of it in the country.
“I think it’s safe to say that most of the results suggest that these vaccines are all so fundamentally similar, even though there is only a difference between studies, and the effectiveness against people getting infected is maybe around 60 percent. This means that 40 percent can still be infected.
“The activity against serious illness is maybe about 90 percent, but this only varies and there is also new information coming from Israel that the activity is probably somewhat less than this.”
Data from Israel now show that people are seven times as likely to be infected after being vaccinated than if they have already recovered.
Various media outlets have reported that the White House is considering mandatory COVID-19 [Chinese coronavirus] vaccination as a condition of employment for federal employees.
Maintaining the health and safety of our members is of paramount importance. While the APWU leadership continues to encourage postal workers to voluntarily get vaccinated, it is not the role of the federal government to mandate vaccinations for the employees we represent.
APWU maintains its headquarters in Washington, D.C., where the mayor just issued an indoor mask mandate.Issues related to vaccinations and testing for COVID-19 in the workplace must be negotiated with the APWU. At this time the APWU opposes the mandating of COVID-19 vaccinations in relation to U.S. postal workers.
Murphy said Walensky’s consideration of governmental documentation of vaccinated Americans is worrisome. The CDC’s “inconsistent messaging” undermines public trust in the bureaucracy, he added.I think if we see more and more people who are vaccinated, our children are vaccinated, we have full vaccination in schools, we have full vaccination in teachers, all of those are documented, we have disease rates that are low, I think then we can start thinking about what — how we can loosen up and not seeing clusters and outbreaks in these school systems. The thing that’s most important to me through all of this is that our kids get back in school full-time in-person learning. And we’re not there yet. We’re far from there. And I want our children to be safe.
Ooooh, okay. Let’s do some math here, folks. There are approximately 600,000 students in the district. And another 75,000 staff and faculty. Just for funsies, let’s round the full number up to 700,000. There are approximately 40 weeks in a school year. That’s 28 million tests. Let’s just say hypothetically a test costs $10. (It could be $100… who knows? But we’ll be conservative here, no pun intended.)View: https://twitter.com/BNODesk/status/1420866782995357704

Someone we know has guillain barre syndrome after taking the vaccine a few weeks ago.
Bloomberg also cited the following tweet from Dr. Gottlieb where he explained how Rt, a virus's effective reproductive number, plays into forecasts of the virus's spread. The logic behind it is pretty simple: If Rt falls below 1, then the virus's spread should start to slow. The rest of the US will be watching those states closely as infections spread. The cases are prompting authorities to reconsider masking and other public-health measures, but many state and local governments are doing so gingerly and only after outbreaks are well underway. In Florida’s Miami-Dade County, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said Wednesday that she would require masks again at indoor county facilities such as libraries.
