COVID 19 Update Update 106: Comorbidities and Excess Deaths; Bradykinin and Coronavirus
•Sep 4, 2020

MedCram - Medical Lectures Explained CLEARLY

Excess deaths are deaths above what is historically expected during a period of time. Dr. Seheult of https://www.medcram.com explains how excess deaths are a key tool in understanding the impact of an epidemic - whether it is caused by influenza, COVID 19, or another virus - and helps dispel ideas of inaccurate death certificates by going through the steps of filling a death certificate out. An interesting hypothesis has emerged (that was initially formulated on a supercomputer) about the possible role of bradykinin in COVID-19 morbidity and mortality. The researchers surmise that bradykinin storm may have a greater impact than a cytokine storm as others have suggested (This video was recorded September 3, 2020).

Could get dicey. Right now they're saying 'don't panic'. Hopefully it won't amount to anything, but it's worth keeping an eye on if the WHO is warning about it.

(fair use applies)

Experts call for close monitoring of the new virus
2 hours ago

Experts say there's no need to be overly alarmed by the first confirmed case of a new coronavirus infection in Japan. But they also call for vigilance.

Nobuhiko Okabe, head of the Kawasaki City Institute for Public Health, says it's clear where the patient was infected as he had visited Wuhan. He also says human-to-human transmission has been very limited so far.

But he also cautions that little is known about the virus and close monitoring is necessary. He says that theoretically, the virus could mutate and become more virulent and spread more easily among humans.

He says that in Japan, influenza infection poses a higher risk and people shouldn't be too nervous about catching the new coronavirus.

He says the usual measures against flu will probably be effective, such as washing hands and avoiding crowds.

Tohoku University Professor Hitoshi Oshitani says a large-scale outbreak is unlikely at this point.

He points out that healthcare workers who have treated patients have not been infected and that infection has not spread widely from patients.

He says there's no sign of the virus spreading quickly and continuously like the SARS virus that caused an outbreak in China and other parts of Asia in 2003.

He says that at the moment the new virus seems to be causing less serious symptoms compared to SARS and other known viruses. He says it's important for authorities to quickly identify the source of infection and grasp the whole situation.
What products are in the Conronavirus vaccine, have not been able to find out anything on this.
How handy??

Top Conclusions After 9 Months Of Reporting On Covid-19
•Premiered 116 minutes ago

Peak Prosperity
After nine months of intensive coverage of the covid-19 pandemic, it's time to start focusing these videos on other subjects just as important to our future well-being. But before I do, what have we learned over the course of these coronavirus videos?

Well, for starters: we thankfully know a good deal at this point how the SARS2 virus infects people and how to treat it cheaply and effectively (even if world governments refuse to do so). The virus has revealed a profound lack of integrity amongst our "leaders" and public health institutions. I don't think that trust will be easily regained -- if ever -- in our lifetime.

But while we didn't get *everything* right in our coverage, I'm pretty darn impressed with how far out front of the mainstream media we've consistently been. Putting out these videos, 5/week through May and then 2/week afterwards has been the most intensive effort of my life.

Given all of the messages of gratitude Adam and I have received from our viewers, and the stories of how this information may have protected and saved lives around the world -- all the effort was definitely worth it. Thank you for supporting us in this cause!

Self Testing for COVID 19 with Rapid Antigen Tests: Dr. Mina Q/A
•Sep 11, 2020

MedCram - Medical Lectures Explained CLEARLY

Harvard professor and epidemiologist Michael Mina, MD, Ph.D has been a strong advocate for inexpensive paper strip COVID-19 antigen tests (that provide rapid results in 15 minutes) that he believes are sensitive and accurate enough to turn positive for the vast majority of contagious COVID-19 infections.

In this video, Dr. Mina challenges the notion that individuals need medical professionals to administer COVID-19 tests and directly give information about results. And how in the past, home pregnancy tests were considered too risky for women to utilize.

Dr. Mina is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology, Immunology, and Infectious Diseases at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Mina is also a core member of the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics (CCDD) and an Associate Medical Director in Clinical Microbiology. Dr. Mina's bio is here: https://ccdd.hsph.harvard.edu/people/... We have no financial disclosures related to any medical products.

MedCram has a strong interest in curbing this pandemic and safely re-opening schools and our economy, and we believe Dr. Mina's approach to testing could be effective - especially compared to the current testing approach in the United States.

University of Pittsburgh scientists discover antibody that 'neutralizes' virus that causes COVID-19
Its component is 10 times smaller than a full-sized antibody
Scientists at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine have isolated “the smallest biological molecule” that “completely and specifically neutralizes” SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
RECOVERING CORONAVIRUS PATIENTS EXPERIENCING JAW PAIN AS SYMPTOM
The antibody component is 10 times smaller than a full-sized antibody, and has been used to create the drug Ab8, shared in the report published by the researchers in the journal Cell on Monday. The drug is seen as a potential preventative against SARS-CoV-2.
Researchers are also “thinking outside the box” for how the drug could be administered, stating it may be able to be inhaled or through a superficial injection, instead of an IV.

According to the report, the drug has been “highly effective in preventing and treating” the SARS-CoV-2 infections in mice and hamsters during tests. The drug also reportedly does not bind to human cells, which suggests it will not have negative side effects in people.

“Ab8 not only has potential as therapy for COVID-19, but it also could be used to keep people from getting SARS-CoV-2 infections,” said co-author John Mellors, chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Pitt and UPMC. “Antibodies of larger size have worked against other infectious diseases and have been well tolerated, giving us hope that it could be an effective treatment for patients with COVID-19 and for protection of those who have never had the infection and are not immune.”
Xianglei Liu of Pitt is also co-lead author of the study.

According to the report, the team at University of Texas Medical Branch Center for Biodefense and Emerging Diseases and Galveston National Laboratory tested Ab8 and found it blocked the virus from entering cells. In mice trials, those treated with Ab8 had 10-fold less of the amount of infectious virus compared to those that were untreated.

COMMENTS: Griffith Q&As increased incidence of COVID 19 among pregnant women; monoclonal antibodies - 72% risk reduction of infection; health care workers PPE low risk of contracting when taking care of patients; Exposed to sick 2-14 days, can be shedding virus during that. Highest infectivity 2 days before symptoms. Have test closes to an elderly visit etc.; False positives - DX test vs public health type test. rapid strip/ pcr test good to pick up when infectious.

Report on behaviors: (1) going out to a restaurant (3x risk,) bar/coffee shop (almost 4x) increased risk; (2) indoor vs outdoor (indoor 18.7X greater) Avoid closed spaces with poor ventilation, crowded places and close contact settings. (3) wearing glasses during the day on regular basis reduces risk. (4) mask wearing 50-75% reduction of risk. (5) contact precautions - current fomite surface transmission accounts for only a minor amount of infection. Being in a room closer than 6 feet of an infected person without a mask, for 15 min or more while infected person is talking, singing or coughing is high risk.

Sep 29, 2020

MedCram - Medical Lectures Explained CLEARLY

As confirmed COVID-19 cases rise in Europe (but COVID 19 deaths remain relatively low), Dr. Roger Seheult of https://www.medcram.com discusses what we may be able to learn from the European data. Has No Life - Lives on TB
Forgive if this is a dupe, but Dr. John Campbell has an update on the importance of Vitamin D -

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B01ZlRfMnmU

RT: 27:38

It cites various studies, explains some biochemistry, identifies some baseline levels of vit. d which appear to offer support to the immune system thereby reducing the impact of the disease. And, much more...

Excellent presentation.
