If they could have moved that motel over 4.5 miles, they could have put all of those covid/homeless people in Hendricks Co.

Indianapolis’ first COVID-19 patient overflow site established on west side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- The Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Airport Hotel in the 2500 block of South High Road is the first off-site location for COVID-19 patients and potential patients awaiting test results in Marion County.

Sources indicate the first handful of guests was checked into the hotel last Sunday.

The plan to house Indianapolis homeless persons affected by the coronavirus was first announced last week by Indiana Family and Social Services Secretary Dr. Jennifer Sullivan during a statehouse briefing alongside Governor Eric Holcomb.

Dr. Sullivan indicated the Indiana State Department of Health would take on the administration of the location while Eskenazi Health would staff the site and the Indiana National Guard would provide security.

As of today there is little visible evidence outside the hotel of its new role in response to the COVID-19 virus crisis though a security officer is restricting visitors to the hotel where an Eskenazi official identified himself to Fox 59 News and indicated ISDH would be the lead agency to issue a statement regarding the location.

ISDH did not respond to a request for comment.

In making the announcement last week, Dr. Sullivan said, “Those experiencing homelessness are some of our most vulnerable during the current COVID-19 pandemic. They lack a place for quarantine and because they already have other medical conditions they are at higher risk if they get the disease. Furthermore, with many people close together in existing shelters, a general spread of COVID-19 within this population quickly becomes a health emergency and an additional burden on our health care system.

“From an early time in our response we knew therefore we needed to do everything we could to avoid such a public health emergency and protect this vulnerable population. To address this issue we have collaborated with an established Indiana partner, organizations already serving those experiencing homelessness and the Marion County Public Health Department.

“Today we can announce that we have secured a location to allow for quarantine and self-care for those in this population affected by COVID-19. This will allow for safe accommodations for recovery and free emergency department beds across the city for additional patients needing care.”

According to its website, the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Airport Hotel covers 22,000 square feet, 271 guest rooms and 16 meeting rooms that could be reconfigured for additional space and food service capabilities.

Dr. Sullivan indicated an unencumbered grant from the Lilly Foundation funded the Indianapolis off-site location and would fund other similar locations across the state.

Who has experimented with this? I understand they wont breed true, but they still produce something. There is a guy that grows apple trees from seed, which also isnt supposed to work, but it does.
Anyone have practical experience to share?
It is very dependant on the crop. I essed with tomaotes for a cople of seasons. Saved the seed from the hybrid ones I liked nd then planted them in the spring. They came up and I did it again. Some were off and some were good. Saved a thrid year but never planted as I switched to OP/ heirloom. I imagine tomatoes are one of the easier ones as they are inbreeders. Something like corn would be more difficult. Carol Deppe has a book about breeding your own vegetable varieties that is very good at explaining it. If I had that book when I was messing around I may have stuck with it just for fun.

Editted to add we bought Tabasco seeds when we visited the plantation years ago and were never able to get the seeds from the plants to grow much of anyithng. THe plants grew great but their offspring didnt. Not very scientific but just something we noticed.

Sources at two US hospitals say they're running out of sedation drugs
From CNN’s Paul Murphy and Lauren DelValle

Two nurses at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver, Colorado, have told CNN that they're running out of proper sedation drugs because they've had to intubate so many patients since the coronavirus epidemic began in the US.

A nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, tells CNN that their hospital is running out of fentanyl, which they used to sedate intubated Covid-19 patients.

SCL Health Vice President of System Communications Nikki Sloup said that their hospital system, which includes St. Joseph's Hospital, currently has an adequate supply to meet patient needs. But Sloup warns that if they experience a patient surge, it could see shortages.

CNN reached out to Johns Hopkins Hospital for comment but did receive a response.

One nurse said they've never seen so many ventilators being put to use.…

They are going to have to put out feelers to the local drug lords. Always seems to be plenty of opiates and derivatives in their inventory.

Gardening is easy just dig a hole and plop a seed in it.
Heard it from a brilliant man that knows all.

That may be a New York thing. I've been doing it for a while and something keeps getting in between that hole and my table.
The number of people that get away with this the first year is impressive. Its the following years when you need to rotate, replace nutrients etc that suck.

Not from China either:

Testing kits which were headed to the UK have been found to be contaminated with coronavirus.

The Government has said that it aims to boost the rate of tests to 25,000 every day by the end of April at the latest and has asked private companies to help drive up test production.

But one production firm, Luxembourg-based manufacturer Eurofins, told UK labs on Monday that deliveries would be delayed as core parts had been contaminated with coronavirus, the Telegraph reported.

This shouldn't significantly affect the UK's testing efforts, Government sources told the paper.

How the !)@#! is this even POSSIBLE??!!!!

With GM's manufacturing capabilities, why in the HELL aren't they producing N-95 or N-100 masks? What's in the picture doesn't protect anyone, vis-a-vis CV19... Feel good propaganda... Not impressed, and if I were a stockholder, I'd be pissed.

OA

Maybe you could tell them how to convert a stamping press and welders to making N95 masks? It’s not like retooling making fenders from the 2019 models to the 2020 models not to mention sourcing the raw materials which are totally different.

For those who follow Clif High, here is one of his latest twitter posts (below).

For those who don't:

- when he refers to '22mg of absorbed vitamin c', this is in consideration of the fact that different forms of V-C are absorbed at different rates. Liposomal is generally thought to be absorbed at around 80%, Intervenous: 70%, Other common oral forms: 20-30% (varies widely)

- when he refers to 'antiviral compounds found in herbs and medicinal mushrooms', he primarily is referring to Chaga Mushroom (which can be readily purchased through Amazon), which, among other properties, is a Protease inhibitor. Dosing varies a little, but something like 0.5 grams twice daily in coffee, tea or hot water, seems a good rule.

My wife and I have been on approximately this regimen for 6 weeks now. We make our own liposomal C at home, and are each taking 6 grams of lipo-C, 3g twice a day.

re: all this "6 feet" nonsense...

Social-distancing guidelines to stay 6 feet from others may be woefully inadequate, one scientist warns — saying the coronavirus can travel 27 feet and linger for hours.

MIT associate professor Lydia Bourouiba, who has researched the dynamics of coughs and sneezes for years, warns in newly published research that the current guidelines are based on outdated models from the 1930s.
Rather than the assumed safety of 6 feet, Bourouiba warns that “pathogen-bearing droplets of all sizes can travel 23 to 27 feet.”

Her research, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, also warns that “droplets that settle along the trajectory can contaminate surfaces” — and “residues or droplet nuclei” may “stay suspended in the air for hours.”
She notes a 2020 report from China that showed that “virus particles could be found in the ventilation systems in hospital rooms of patients with COVID-19.”

Bourouiba fears that the current guidelines are “overly simplified” and “may limit the effectiveness of the proposed interventions” against the deadly pandemic.

She says it is particularly urgent for health care workers who, she argues in her report, face an “underappreciated potential exposure range” while treating the sick and dying.

“There’s an urgency in revising the guidelines currently being given by the [World Health Organization] and the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] on the needs for protective equipment, particularly for the frontline health care workers,” Bourouiba told USA Today.

The World Health Organization — which suggests 3 feet is enough to remain safe — told USA Today it “welcomed” studies.
“WHO carefully monitors emerging evidence about this critical topic and will update this scientific brief as more information becomes available,” WHO said in a statement to the paper.

The numbers, from the beginning, were 8 meters - which is about 25 feet? - and 30 minutes in the air, which they raised to hours in the air.

Cannot fathom why everyone is on the "6 feet" train.

This evening in my quiet residential area - a series of gun shots totaling about 30.
Found out later it was some man who fired shots with a rifle in front of the elementary school. He was taken down by LE (none hurt) and sent away in an ambulance. Have no idea if it was an attempted suicide by cop. Never happened here before in the 6 years I have lived here.
One of my Son’s is a deputy sheriff, last night he responded to a domestic disturbance. Told me it was fight going on between a 90 yr old woman and her 62 yr old daughter, crazy world.

Not personal experience, but seed breeders have sometimes taken a hybrid and bred it into a plant that comes true from seed. All hybrids are is a cross between two different strains. Sometimes it’s no more difference between strains than crossing a German German Shepherd with an American German Shepherd, if even that much difference. Usually both parents (or all grandparents) are good quality producers. It’s just that the hybrid vigor makes an exceptional producer. So, yes, you CAN save seeds from hybrids. The offspring may not be exactly like the parents, but they should still be useful.

Sky News Covid-19 UK latest deaths

Another 563 people have died in the UK after testing positive for coronavirus - bringing the total number of deaths to 2,352.
The deaths happened in the 24 hours before 5pm on Tuesday, the Department of Health said.

It is the largest increase so far.
Scotland reported another 16 deaths on Wednesday, bringing the total to 76.
In Wales, 29 more people have died, with the country's total now at 98.

England's deputy chief medical officer, Dr Jenny Harries, said on Monday she was anticipating the number of deaths to "get worse over the next week, possibly two" before they decline due to people adhering to the lockdown and social distancing measures.

The Department of Health said 29,474 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 9am on Tuesday, 4,324 more than the 24 hours before.

Purity demands 30 feet. How far for 'good enough'? Maybe 6' runs at the 95% level so the chances of getting a disabling charge of virus are miniscule?

The 3 lines of GSD are 3 different breeds for all intents and purposes. Working line Breeders would never breed to WGSL or American lines and vice versa! Might as well breed to a poodle

As for seeds, I've saved hybrids and they can come out ok

Yeah, that's going to be the big problem with attempting to get things back up and running, whether in China now or in the U.S. a month from now. This virus is a massive wildfire that the whole world is trying to put out. But small fires are going to keep popping up in various areas, no matter how well you try to contain it. After weeks and weeks of self-isolation, you might go out thinking you're in the clear, and then you're caught in one of the new brush fires.

I don't see any way of escaping this thing.

I'm really angry with Rush Limbaugh today. Just found out the 78 year old neighbor who cuts our grass is positive and in the hospital. Super nice guy whom I've known all my life. When he cut our grass about a week ago we talked a bit and he told me he believed what Rush had to say was true. No need to worry and he and his wife were not going to stay home and be a part of this. Rush said this and that and it was all way overplayed and really the whole virus wasn't a big deal.... it was all just a way to get at Trump. All the old country folks around here listen to Rush and he is going to end up killing people if he is still downplaying this.

Even if we increased “social distancing” to 25 feet, that is not enough. Think of walking in a store, and walking up the isle where somebody contagious was within 3 hours. :shkr:

Limbaugh is terminal and probably doesn’t care anymore. He is smart enough however to know while the left is using everything it can to dump Trump, dead doctors and nurses along with refrigerated trailers for morgues don’t lie.

That being said as adults each has the responsibility of investigating the issue themselves and doing their own due diligence. With engrained normalcy bias along with a popular radio personality telling you it’s hyped it’s easy to assume it’s a big deal over nothing. And it didn’t help that Trump publicly downplayed it at the beginning either.

Look at the quantity there, will it all be tested for a virus? Don't understand it, like taking masks from China, with the non gloved hand touching the masks in production? eyyiyi.........can't write this stuff, or did they.
