....and that's why you don't keep all your guns in the safe. Also the reason that all our exterior doors have heavy duty reinforced security screen doors on them.

OMG! I thought it was my first wife!
Your post reminded me of an an old joke.....

One evening an old man is traveling 70mph in a 30mh zone. A little further down the road, a police car pulls him over and tells him "I've been following you for 5 minutes and you kept accelerating." The police officer says to the speeder "I finish my shift in 2 minutes. If you can give me an excuse I haven't heard before I will let you go as it will save me any paper work." The speeder replies "My wife ran away with a police officer 3 years ago, I thought you were bringing her back." The police officer returns to his patrol car and drives a way.

SANDPOINT, Idaho (CBS2) — Two archery hunters were attacked by a sow grizzly bear Wednesday near Sandpoint.

The hunters were walking in the Upper Pack River area when they had a surprise encounter with a grizzly bear and its cubs in the Apache Ridge area.

The bear attacked the hunters, but not before they were able to deploy their bear spray. Amazingly, only one was injured and was released from the hospital that day with stitches.

Both men were able to walk out of the backcountry.

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is still investigating the incident.

"People recreating in the Upper Pack River drainage, including the Harrison Lake and Roman Nose areas, are advised to use caution," IDFG said. "Black bears and grizzly bears both inhabit the Selkirk Mountains and forest users should always be prepared for bear encounters."

IDFG also recommends carrying bear spray when recreating in any type of bear country.

So, what exactly DO you set out for a grizzly bear eating dinner with you?

They don't look like quiche or salad or quinoa would be appetizing to them..........

Whatever it wants. These are the times I do not miss living on the Grizzly Bear migration route anymore.

I'm pretty sure that is a Black Bear in the video. Brown bears have that hump on the back of their necks, don't they?
Anyhow, that looks just like the one that decided to waltz into my campsite 3 weeks ago in the Tahoe National Forest.

Yes, it is a black bear in a brown maybe cinnamon phase. All grizzlies have a very distinguished hump. I have dispatched enough of both over the years.

You're right, it's a black bear. Their hair is brown until they lose their winter coat. We had one do the same thing in Grand Teton. Park volunteers showed up wearing yellow vest and the bear took off. Volunteers told us that they recognize the yellow vests and run. The bear they ran off likes to hang around the area and eat huckleberries and grub as well as the food left out by campers.

Yep, got one just like it hanging on my wall I’m looking at right now...of course, mines not as large as that one!

MC - they're pretty smart - believe it or not they can open car doors . . .
Sounds like a pig with well endowed animal hands. Lol.

Can you imagine if they closed the car door? “Hey, bud, can you take me to KFC?”

I really think I must have been infused with too much Gary Larson as a youth.

There are pics/videos out that show the aftermath of bears accidently closing themselves inside vehicles. Let's just say they seem to understand exterior door handles better than interior... and their methods of egress rely more on brute force than finesse!
