What is the symbolism of the knights templar battle flag? My mother is all worried because the Trump supporters up the road now have it hanging from their house. She thinks they are racist. I cant ind anything beyond a religious meaning.s-l500.jpg

Scroll down the page a wee bit, you’ll find the meaning.

Neither here nor there.
Is Trump a mason? I thought that that was one of the reasons they hated his guts and so much because he wasn't a Mason?

Hmmm, I haven't seen the Knights Templar associated with Trump; Or really any political issue.

The reason they hate his guts is he doesn’t dance to their music. He’s his own man; successful, good family, transparent, can’t be bought.

Their hatred for him stems from the pure hatred of themselves. He reminds them daily of what they will never be... loved.
Not a moment of peace for any of them in their own heads. No satisfaction of a job well done. They are always looking over their shoulder for who has the knife out for them. What a pathetic existence.

The Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem (Knights Templar, NOT the Tom Hanks movie version) is a modern day fraternal group (based) on the tenants of the original Order during the Crusades. It is dedicated to the protection of Christians in the middle East, support of scholarships to provide upward mobility of the children of said victims of this persecution, and support of worthy local charitable causes in the areas of their Priories (home of the local chapter of these groups). With 1000's of members, generous sums of monies are generated annually, along with like kind donations in the 10's of thousands of man-hours toward charitable endeavors ( with most giving performed anomalously) this group strives to live up the Chivalrous code of the original Knights of the Temple.

It's called the beauseant, if you wish to look it up - though how much reliable information you will find under the overlay of legend and myth remains to be seen.

I doubt the black and white has anything to do or ever has had anything to do with race, if you attribute the colors to representations of good and evil you will likely be closer to the mark. The floors of Masonic temples are tiled in black and white checkerboard patterns for the same reason.

The red cross is the cross patte'e, or any of several other names.

Since the Templars were assailed by French royalty in 1307 and outlawed, history has been somewhout clouded.

It is also said the Red Cross, Le Jolie Rouge, was used early on by the early pirates who preyed upon the French ships because of Phillipe the Fairs’ crusade against the Templars due to his lust for their wealth. He didn’t find it nor did he find their fleet at the port city of La Rochelle.

The Jolie Rouge was later mistranslated in to the Jolly Roger.

If you look for a picture of the Templar navy flag you might find something more familiar than a cross patte'e. :D

The Beauceant, the war flag of the Knights Templar
cross%20flag.jpg

The Beauceant was the war flag of the Knights Templar and consisted of a black section above a white one. The real meaning of the standard is not known for certain but it could be that the black section depicted the sins of the world and the white symbolized the purity that the Templar Order offered the knights. Whatever the symbolism, the Beauceant held a lot of power – while it was still flying, knights were not allowed to retreat or stop fighting.
A tad different than the flag in the OP. Maybe is....maybe isn't?

The white stood for purity as in doing the right thing to their friends. The black stands for what you will receive as an enemy.... :kaid:
