Just how many Militia actually went out and did something?

Troke

The first report was 1500 'expected'

Then it changed to 1000

Then it said there were '150'

Then it said there were 150 newsmen interviewing 50 militia.

Ahh.....actually how many went out into the field and actually did something?

Anybody know?

It is'nt the milita Troke. These are just average citizens some armed some not who are standing up for closing the border.

I have read accounts upward of 400 actually attended and registered. I have also read the MM are keeping their numbers quiet so no one knows how many. They are not all going to be there in one weekend. It will spread out over a month with some staying a week and some staying a few days.

The 1300 number was the rough total of those who volumteered and signed up online prior to the event. All of those were not expected, or needed to come on the first day of the month long project. Many will be coming later in the month to watch for a few days to a few weeks.

The rallies yesterday certainly did not represent the total number, as the rallies served partially as a decoy to allow the "real" border watchers to begin trial runs, learn their locations, etc. while keeping he press busy at the rally. Many of those yesterday were local citizens and other supporters who wanted the press and the Border Patrol to see our support. The 2 rallies yesterday were at the Naco and Douglas border patrol offices.

I was there friday and saturday and took a lot of pictures. I did not post them here because I did not want to compete with NWP since he was sort of the official, unofficial photographer for the event. They are posted on other sites though, but I don't want to cause any problems by posting a link. If you do see the photos, you can see that it was a pretty good turnout of just regular, ordinary folks. No militia, no camo, no guns. I have seen rowdier tailgate parties! There was no alcohol at this one!

Dixielee - Thank you for being there. I don't see why your photos posted here would be a problem. They will be different than NWPhotogs after all.

Do we have any feedback from MWP yet? And I agree about anyone who can post any pictures or any real information on the situation there. Everyone has a different perseption of what is happening on the same site. Please post any pictures and any views on the area. The more that is posted the less the PTB can lie about it.

Just my .02 worth.

Nancy, that is one of the reasons for the pictures. If you see them, you will see it is just a cross section of middle America. People you would see at the mall, the ballgame or at church. It was like a big picnic. I think many were surprised at the "ordinary" people who were there. The signs were focused on our government and their inaction, it was not a lynch mob for Mexicans. We were there to bring attention to the problems caused by allowing a porous border. It is hard to imagine why Washington and Co. could be so unconcerned about it. IT IS a national security issue, but they are busy searching little gray haired ladies in wheelchairs at the airports.

As it happens, I was in Tombstone last week. Surely looked different than it did when I saw it for the first time in 1970 about. Pretty tourist oriented now.

I guess this little episode will really boost the local economy.

I kept thinking a lot of these old guys remind me of my Dad.

Very nice, rational people....
