I was echoing Bubba's sentiments that we are priviledged and honored to be among people like Shane here on the forum...

If you were actually refering to post #4 where I said dimples or no.. it's an AK thing :)

Congratulations and thanks for a mission well done. I know you are very proud of the two fine boys you raised.

I love my country but as an American I am ashamed and angry but not surprised at the animalisic behavior of some of the citizens of NO. The guardsman said it well that he never expected to have to carry weapons to a rescue mission. God help us all.

It does my heart good to know if the disaster ever comes to my neighborhood there are people like you and yours sons that are willing to take the risks to bring in the goods. God bless you.

Truely a great story, Shane. Your kids will be able to spin quite a yarn for theirs.

As a father, I can only envy the relationship that you have now with your boys (perhaps you've always had it, because you obviously trusted them, and they trusted you, or you wouldn't have had them go along). Now, of course, you are bonded together as only soldiers who have survived combat are bonded together.

Such is a precious relationship, all too rare in today's society, one that harkens back to life on the plains or in the mountains of the old West. Fighting mauraders together built special relationships of respect, trust and love. You have given them a rare lesson in civics - there is a price to pay for civilization and the rule of law. The price is to risk your life in its pursuit. It is a lesson that will serve our Republic well!

You have been blessed by God, Shane. Doubley so because all of you survived the experience.

With great respect for your risk taking spirit,

Woolly

That was gutsy of you!

Thank God you did it! ;)

I'm still looking for our friend and his family! They lived on St. Maurice ave in New Orleans. The damn satelite photos show that street and his house were flooded...:( He was the Best man in our wedding....
I've checked a bazillion survivor lists....and haven't found any of them....

I pray he got help from someone like you!

A heeartfelt tip of the hat sir!

Honored to be member of the same group as a you and your sons. Thank you for sharing, it is important, even vital for others to hear about TRUE exploits. It gives us more information and makes us better prepared for when something serious happens to us/our AO. Thanks

They survived and that's what matters... homes can be rebuilt, you can get another job, your pictures and keepsakes may be lost, but you still have the memories... a lost loved one can't be replaced! I'm glad to hear your friends are safe!

Thanks cabal! :D

I personally cannot get this grin off of my face! :D
I have searched through every list on the net looking for his name or the names of his family for days!...You get to a point where you run out of places to search....(I hate that feeling!) I give it to God....what more can people do? Once again... He comes through. ;)

This is an interesting piece of information for anyone trying to reach their loved ones in that region..
I have tried our friends home phone number and his cell phone and his email - the cell and phone lines are still jammed - all circuits are busy....but for some reason - *Text* messaging goes through!

This may interest our communications guru's here..... ;)

Shane,

I am proud and honored to have even this limited cyber connection to you and your sons — and I will never call them boys.

Talking the talk and walking the walk are two different things. It is indeed reassuring to know that America has some walkers left.

Shane, outstanding, sir.

1. Thank you for going into harms' way, a war zone, to help out.
2. Thank you for sharing this intel with us. You are one of the reasons I am thrilled with TB2K.
3. Haven't heard a peep from those...persons...here who have been whining about you. Hopefully, they've all SHUT UP!

God Bless you and your sons, sir.

echo of the sentiments already posted

Shane, did you hear any estimates of the number of armed unfriendlies? Did the sheriff really end up having to release the prison inmates in the city? Will you be able to grab any stills from your nightvision footage to upload here, or even host some video?

I'm guessing that the bad guys don't have a route to transport their loot out of the city, so the door-to-door searches to collect the dead are gonna be dicey, as looters defend their stashes.

Having BTDT, what are your guesses on what's gonna go down over the coming weeks and months?

Any word on the status of security concerns and evacs in regions outside N.O.? ...not much media attention on that, other than folks drowning as late as Friday due to continued rising water and lack of rescue teams.:(

All I can say is....what a magnificent display of
caring, courage and determination! :applaud:
Now if we just had a thousand more with your
qualities working on the problem...this situation
would already be resolved!

And you stopped in Beaumont? Dang, you were
within spitting distance of me. I am in Orange.
Wish we could have made contact with each
other. I'd have been proud to shake your hand!

At a time when our federal govt has failed so miserably and in so many ways, it's people like you and your sons who make me proud to be an American.

The three of you are real life American Heros! Thank you for your caring and sharing.

As we like to say here in the South, "These children were raised right!"

Of course, they have a fine example - a true man that showed young men how to be. These wonderful sons learned things no text book can teach:
courage, fortitude, dependability, bravery.

May your house always be blessed.
