CORONA Just got an alert

I just about jumped out of my skin a minute ago. I had a loud emergency alert signal type of noise come in on my cell phone. I’ve only ever heard something like that for a severe storm in the area.
Made me think of Trumps EAS year that we got.
I have never gotten a Covid alert before.

What pure and unmitigated BS. Marketwatch (online financial news) had a big article about how we’re all gonna die from Covid.

It’s insanity. Literally mass hysteria. And the media keeps doling it out.

I've never met a hooker who kept a guest sign-in sheet.

These China Flu Alerts, and others, are the latest abuse of the EAS concept. They diminish the relevancy of a real public emergency.

A "real emergency" I define as a situation that requires a large group of people to immediately take very specific actions to protect themselves from a life threatening situation.

Just in the last month, a neighboring county (Waukesha) in SE Wisconsin has issued 3 "Extreme Alerts" on my smart phone regarding police matters. One was issued at 4:15 am. A carjacking, two police shot, and a missing elderly person. Not exactly earthshaking and not really relevant to people in neighboring counties. Also these alerts give few or no details other than "police activity" or "avoid the area".

Milwaukee County sent an "extreme alert" stating that bus service would be suspended from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am. No details were given.

Why do I get Amber Alerts from the complete other side of the state?

I -really- wish they would stop using the classic EAS alert tone. Use something else so I can ignore it.

If a carjacking is "extreme," nothing is extreme. I object to Amber alerts too - doesn't matter how local. The system should be used for incoming nukes, and tsunamis. Anything less, is frivolous.

Fixed it for you. :)

Was coming home in the tractor last Friday night and mine went off.

“The entire state of Illinois is under stage III mitigation”, it said.

Looking much forward to the pitchfork party.
