Japan 'set to dump contaminated Fukushima water into ocean as storage runs out'

The plant suffered a catastrophic meltdown in 2011 when a 6.6-magnitude earthquake shook the region

Countries are gathering to prevent Japan dumping nuclear waste from the Fukushima power plant disaster into the ocean.

The plant suffered a catastrophic meltdown when a 6.6-magnitude earthquake shook the region in 2011.
Tokyo Electric is currently running out of tank space at the plant used to store the water waste.

It expects storage will be taken up by mid-2022 and is actively seeking alternatives – one of which is reportedly the ocean.

We are talking about 1.34 MILLION TONS OF WATER.

Asahi Shimbun newspaper said large storage tanks on the site currently store about 1.05 million tonnes of processed water. The paper said space limitations mean that by the end of 2020, a maximum storage capacity of about 1.34 million tons will be reached.

We are talking about 1.34 MILLION TONS OF WATER.
That's really a meaningless figure.

What matters is the amount of actual radioactive material, not the 8.3 lbs per gallon of water that has no material at all.

A metric ton of water is only 264 gallons.

The most dangerous elements have a very short half-life, so much of it will have decayed in the water that's been stored the longest.

I thought it had been leaking into the ocean since the incident happened. I never heard where it was in any way contained.

It is only a problem depending on the amount of radioactive material and its radioactivity....

Another lets scare the people article....

Well we already know that officials don't care about what this will do to the human race. But what about the poor Fishes? Fish Cruelty!

The Obummer administration turned a blind eye to this disaster that has a possibility to contaminate for the whole earth.
They purposely made it a non-story, non-event as it is likely the worst disaster in human history.
We already have proof of the horrors to marine life in the Pacific Ocean.
Now, the worlds people are just going to look the other way as they dump more into the ocean?

To my limited knowledge on the subject, I have not ever observed a headline or story the radioactive water leaking into the ocean has been stopped.

Another example of poor journalism and fact checking. Which is it, end of 2020 or mid-2022? Four sentences apart and the writer and/or editor didn't notice?

ETA: And after following the link provided, the story at the link does not come close to matching most of what is in the OP. So either Doomer Doug created his version of the story in the OP out of whole cloth or lifted it from a different source that did so.
