Rachel Flowers - playing Keith Emerson's (Emerson, Lake & Palmer) Tarkus at the Whiskey a Go Go last week (r/t: 7:17)

A bit of a background note from no less a personage than Russia's military analyst Andrei Martyanov:

Well, you all know that I am not peacenik. In fact, I detest them, but I am also not a war hawk--I hate war. And let me tell ya, USSR was THE place for progressive rock music. So when Emerson, Lake and Palmer Tarkus came out in 1971 it eventually made it to the USSR and captured imagination of more mature people and, by the mid-1970s, in my teens, it was an album which you HAD to know and hear among many other incredible things which were pouring from the West and were blowing our universes apart.

Keith Emerson, before he committed suicide--often the plight of true geniuses--knew of Rachel Flowers. A blind girl who was born 15 weeks premature. Here is Rachel blowing my and others minds by doing a condensed version of Tarkus in no less that legendary Whiskey a Go Go 10 days ago. Not only she is a music genius, she kept alive what always was truly good and now classic music. As late John Lord of Deep Purple once stated: "We are as valid as anything by Beethoven." It was the time of the titans and it is as valid as anything by Beethoven. Just listen...

There's a longer version on YouTube where she plays the longer version on Keith Emerson's actual equipment. Fascinating.

Acid Mammoth
is a doom metal band from Athens, Greece. The band was formed in 2015 by Chris Babalis Jr. (Vocals & Guitars) and Dimosthenis Varikos (Bass), good friends since high school, with a deep love for Sabbath and other heavy music. They were quickly joined by their very good friend Marios Louvaris (Drums) and Chris Babalis Sr. (Guitars), Jr.'s father. Acid Mammoth is more than just a band of friends. They are a family. In late 2016, the band recorded its self-titled, debut full-length album, which they self-released digitally in autumn of 2017. The album was well received, and it wasn’t long before the band was in the studio again to record its second full-length album “Under Acid Hoof”, this time darker, heavier and fuzzier. In September 2019, the band signed with Heavy Psych Sounds Records, which welcomed the Greek Doomers to their roster after the first listening of the new album. “Under Acid Hoof” was released January 24th 2020 and was very well received by fans and critics alike. In September 2020 the band participated in a series of split releases by Heavy Psych Sounds Records called the “Doom Sessions”. “Doom Sessions Vol. 2” featured Acid Mammoth alongside the Italian Doomers 1782, in an ultra heavy release that featured three brand new tracks from each band. In late 2020 the band entered the studio to record their third full-length album called “Caravan”, which was released March 2021 by Heavy Psych Sounds records, alongside the first ever physical press of the 2017 self-titled debut as well as two represses of “Under Acid Hoof”.

Groucho, you can't find your way home because you dropped your hall pass. I might give it back to you if you'll help Boris unload the truck.

This is my favorite piece from Ennio Morricone, who I believe is the greatest film composer of all time. :)
