CHAT Is it just me, or have you noticed

that the advertising [limited that I have seen] seems to be returning to more conservative values? Same race families, correct sex families? Multi-generational that are all the same? I just started noticing it not long ago, and since I mentioned it to my husband, he indicated he has noticed it as well.

Just us, or are you starting to notice shift to more traditional norms in advertising?

I rarely watch any TV, but will turn it on for the noise so that I can fall asleep, after
setting the timer. I'll check with my wife when she returns. She loves the TV.

I give up.
I usually have Pluto TV, crime shows, on in the background, but come to think of it, I have seen more family stuff, yes.

Cool.

I've noticed it more using the Roku device but various apps (Pluto, Roku, etc). I believe that I am start to see the normal trend returning in local TV advertising (on local news around weather).

Yes, we have started to notice this too. Honestly, I think the worst one is the Hallmark Channel for woke commercials. My DH watches a lot of TV. He usually fast forwards through commercials but occasionally one slips in and he has noticed more all white commercials, or at least a white family with a black friend instead of white mom, black dad, mixed kids.

Not here in the DC area unfortunately. Still way too many commercials where it's all darkies; or mixed race or 2 queers. Local news is getting the same way. Fox 5 DC is woke and worthless; NBC 4 is nearly all darkie now as well. Wife likes TV; I turn it off at every opportunity and listen to music.

I watch the local weather. I run some old shows on either roku or pluto sometimes in the background as a white noise while doing work. Sometimes, if I am facing the general direction, I will look as they (couples) started to sound the same to me again. That is when I noticed.

We stream our TV, some with adds and those adds about two years ago would piss me off so much I'd shut the TV off for a couple minutes until the adds were over. But today, I think you are right. The woke adds for the most part are gone. There are still some there, but the vast majority have disappeared. The old saying go woke go broke I bet took its hold and advertisers want customers, not social media approval.

Many moons ago I lived in Arlington during the era when TV stations signed off around midnight or slightly later. And each station had its special sign off screen shown at the very end, before the screen turned to snow. Anyway back then one of the stations used an American flag as their signoff screen. Instead of the flag being red white and blue, the red and blue were replaced with green. It's an oddity I'll never forget. I viewed it as a political message no different than today's woke commercials.

saw 2 commercials today white WHITE MALES
I was shocked

When economies go bad and sales drop, ad/commercials take a great hit and are NOT made.
Budget cuts.
Some Madison Avenue types do realize that viewer are turned off by woke commercials and that it hurts their product.

TV shows are on tv NOT to entertain you; they are there to fill in the gaps between the commercials.
i.e. soap operas

Well, that is great news. I sure hope so.

Now if they would get rid of his stupid "santa-baby" type Christmas music and go back to more traditional ones, it would be an improvement. At least I heard Bing, but it was probably approved because he sings "happy holidays."

Not trying to rain on your parade, but I am so sick of "Santa Baby..."

That “snow” you speak of, at the end of tv programming for the day - I used to say it was bug fights. That’s what it looked like to me, not snow. :)

Saved, to glorify God.
I noticed.
i think the corporate and political types know the wind has CHANGED and leftist days are numbered, and so also is their power, which will leave their stupid leftist converts adrift, without leaders , and them taking the blame for all the Democrat leadership has done.

ebb & flow is a good description

A return to some semblance of normalcy may be occurring.

WRSA is where I first saw the term "Leegreenwoodistan". Flag waving, baseball,Mom and apple pie. All the while, the rot continues.

The Marxists and "corporatists" might throttle our crazy train back a bit. No reverse in course for us.

If we're soothed by the salve of traditional commercials, those might get more airtime.

Beware of the lukewarm moderates because they are pathfinders down the road to perdition.

Slowly. Most of it has to do with all that has unfolded here recently and the accountants reminding leadership who pays their bills and the groups that will make them more money...

I do not have a TV so I cannot say but perhaps it has more to do with the time of year as in friday of color and winter holiday shopping aka pandering to the (for the moment) majority?
