Iranian Woman Brain Dead After Arrest By Morality Police Over Hijab Rules

A 22-year-old Iranian woman has been declared brain dead just hours after reports spread that she was beaten and arrested by morality police in Tehran for not complying with the country's mandatory hijab rules.

According to reports published on social networks, Mahsa Amini had traveled from the western Iranian province of Kurdistan to Tehran to meet relatives when she was arrested on September 13.

Eyewitnesses at the scene told journalists that Amini appeared to have been beaten inside the morality police van while being taken to the detention center, though she was conscious.

A few hours after her arrest, her family was informed that Amini had been hospitalized.

The media center of the Tehran Police Department denied the eyewitness claims of beating Amini, saying she was transferred to one of the police departments in Tehran for "justification and education" about the hijab when she "suddenly suffered a heart problem."

Kiarash Amini, Mahsa's brother, said in an interview with the Iranwire news website that doctors told him they had diagnosed Mahsa as having had either a heart attack or a stroke, "and that while her heart was still beating, her brain is no longer conscious."

Authorities in Iran are increasingly cracking down on women deemed to be in violation of wearing the hijab, which is mandatory in public in Iran. In recent weeks, women judged not to be in compliance have been barred from entering government offices, banks, or riding on public transportation.

The notorious Guidance Patrols, or morality police, have become increasingly active and violent. Videos have emerged on social media appearing to show officers detaining women, forcing them into vans, and whisking them away.

Puran Nazimi, a human rights activist, challenged Iranian authorities to release security camera footage to prove they didn't beat Amini.

The hijab -- the head covering worn by Muslim women -- became compulsory in public for Iranian women and girls over the age of 9 after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Many Iranian women have flouted the rule over the years and pushed the boundaries of what officials say is acceptable clothing.

And now she's dead. More here:

Yes sad. However I’ll rip the bandaid off. Is this the beginning of mass propaganda about Iran?
Um. Iran is friends with China now. A dominated nation-state. Almost like the US except for our pesky "free elections." All part of that "Belt & Road" initiative which will eventually encircle (and captivate) the world. Belt and Road Initiative - Wikipedia

As such, small transgressions of the humanitarian kind will be forgiven. Just like the inhumanity to the Wegars (who are genetically on the eastern porch of Iran) is somehow "forgotten." (or lost)

And howsomever this came to western Media attention will be further refined as the belt is tightened.

That client-state relationship between basically Muslim nations & PRC, particularly considering how China treats its own indigenous Muslims has always puzzled me.

Pretty sure there's a script for a political-espionage film there.

Total control. You will do it our way be it Shia or Sunni or Democrat or name your poison.
I won’t wear a mask. You can’t shop here.
I won’t get vaccinated. You’re fired.
I voted for _____. Give us your cell phone and put your hands on the hood.
I am a lawyer for ____. Walked out in handcuffs and leg irons.
Where is your proper Hijab? Beaten to death.

Authoritarians like a certain demographic take down isolated individuals to make their point. Ruby Ridge, Waco, Pillow Guy. Sneak up, beat down, crow about the beat down and make clear to everyone that they are IN CHARGE.

Our country has been on this downward slope for a long time. We read about atrocities like the OP and think, glad that can't happen here. Glad the authorities would never do that here.
The J6 folks in solitary in the DC Jail might disagree.
Think about what you hesitate to say or do. Free people think and say and do. Scared people hesitate.

Despite the internet shut down, there are a lot of short clips on Twitter showing up that suggest there are demonstrations going on all over Iran over this. The actual truth is hard to get out, but it looks like a lot of the population is extremely angry about this one, it remains to be seen if they can manage to bring on any changes or if the military repression will win out again in the end.

In Iran, we call it a Chador.

I’m so pissed off at what they did to her.

The “Morality Police” are Shiite beta males and the fact she was a Kurd, may have made her a big target.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they raped her also in the van to.

My friends who go home for visits to Isfahan said that once you’re away from the airport, municipal buildings and mosque, they shuck their chadors, put on their capri pants, paint their toenails, put on makeup and their just fine with maybe only a head covering.

I have to think that the fact she was a Kurd, made her a target, since there’s great discrimination of the Kurds in Iran. V

Those w/ the weapons usually make the rules.

I'm sure there's lots of ARs & AKs in 'civilian' hands but if the current govt. wants, they can make possession of same grounds for an on-the-spot execution.

Saved, to glorify God.
Does anyone else think that woman in the OP looks like a man, dressod as a woman?
Could that be the real reason they beat her to death, they thought she was not a woman?

No, some of the Iranian women are a bit manly looking (course). Facial hair included.

My former sister inlaw was a very beautiful and delicate blonde with blue eyes, my other sister inlaw, her sister was quite hulk like but a ‘certain famous general’s’ son married her for political connections.

Both my mom and her mom were from the Qajar family (my mom from my gg grandmother, the Qajar princess who married the Agha Khan of Turkey and quite the H*llraiser who married my gg grandfather who was part of the Norwegian royal family). That grandma was considered the most beautiful woman in Norway back in the 1800’s.

My sister Shirin has inherited that certain ‘H*llraiser gene’. Lol!

Anyway, it was weird to see this Persian looking blonde Greek god marry F****. The poor thing was a ‘double bagger’. Bless her heart, she got her father’s family’s genes. Bleh

But just like in any country, there’s a wide variety in the looks of women. V

I edited out the names except for my sister’s name. Lol!
