CAIRO (AP) — A senior official with the Iran-backed Houthi rebels is warning countries against joining Saudi Arabia in Yemen’s revived civil war, telling The Associated Press on Sunday that his group has assured the Trump administration that it won’t attack U.S. vessels in the Red Sea.

Mohamed al-Bukhaiti, a member of the Houthis’ political bureau, said Washington reached out to the rebels after their rapid advance down Yemen’s western coast to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait earlier this month.

“We confirmed that we are not targeting the United States, or any other nation, in the strait, with the sole exception of the Saudi enemy,” he told the AP in a Zoom interview from the rebel-held Yemeni capital, Sanaa. “That remains the case.”

U.S. President Donald Trump last weekend said his administration has “had discussions” with the Houthis, but did not say when. “The Houthis called us, and they don’t want to fight with us,” he said. “They would much prefer not having us involved, and they’re letting most ships go through.”

The AP later reported that Oman hosted a meeting between U.S. and Houthi representatives last weekend, citing a Houthi official and another individual familiar with the talks. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.

However, al-Bukhaiti only confirmed indirect contacts with U.S. officials through longtime mediator Oman, which brokered a 2025 ceasefire between the Houthis and the Trump administration. That ended a weekslong U.S. bombing campaign against the rebels in return for them ceasing attacks on U.S. vessels in the Red Sea.

“The goal of our military operations is not to close the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, but rather to ensure freedom of navigation through it for everyone, including Yemen,” he said.

The Houthis claim they can fight a war on multiple fronts

Al-Bukhaiti said the rebels have the capacity to fight a war on multiple fronts “should any nation become implicated in the aggression against Yemen alongside Saudi Arabia.”

“Today, Yemen is capable of waging battle — not merely an internal conflict, but an international one as well,” he said.

He said the Houthi attacks against neighboring Saudi Arabia will persist until Riyadh ends its decade-long blockade on rebel-held areas in Yemen and allows vessels to reach Houthi-controlled ports on the Red Sea. Then they will be ready to negotiate, he said.

Al-Bukhaiti blamed Saudi Arabia for the latest escalation of violence in Yemen, which he said erupted after an airstrike blamed on the Saudi-led coalition fighting the rebels hit the Sanaa international airport. The strike prevented an Iranian flight carrying a Houthi delegation to land. The flight was a Houthi attempt to challenge the coalition’s air and naval blockade.

The Houthis responded with missile and drone strikes on Saudi Arabia, including one that targeted Riyadh on Saturday before being intercepted. Saudi officials said debris from a Houthi drone also killed one civilian and injured others.

The Houthis also declared a blockade on Saudi shipping in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea, attacking Saudi-linked vessels and oil facilities inside the kingdom, the world’s top oil exporter.

The Saudis and their allies have long struggled to contain the Houthis, and may be tempted to seek a diplomatic solution to halt attacks. That might ultimately require U.S. concessions to Iran, the only country with leverage over the Houthis. But Washington’s negotiations with Tehran over their own war fell apart weeks ago.

“We have not closed the door to peace,” Mahdi al-Mashat, president of the Houthis’ Supreme Political Council, the top executive body, said in a speech Sunday marking the anniversary of their 2014 takeover of Sanaa.

The U.S., which bombed the Houthis under the Biden and Trump administrations, has shown no interest in getting involved militarily this time around.

The rebels believe power has shifted in their favor

The rebels’ advance inside Yemen seized the crucial port city of Mokha and key Red Sea islands that allow them to better monitor shipping traffic through the Bab el-Mandeb, through which some 12% of world trade normally passes.

The Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces, long divided into factions, withdrew but have vowed to regroup.

The escalation ended a 2022 ceasefire that largely ended fighting in Yemen’s civil war, which started when the Houthis swept in from their mountainous heartland and seized much of northern and central Yemen, including Sanaa, 12 years ago.

The Saudi-led coalition entered the war the following year on behalf of the internationally recognized government. The civil war killed at least 150,000 people, according to U.N. estimates, and pushed the country to the brink of famine.

Now, with Houthis in control of Yemen’s western coast overlooking the Red Sea shipping corridor, “the balance of power has shifted in favor of the Sanaa government,” al-Bukhaiti said, referring to the rebels’ de facto authorities there.

“Ultimately, (Saudi Arabia) lost its most critical card: the west coast,” he said.

Pahlavi: Iran regime continues to erode from within as defections grow

Iran’s exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi said regime officials and military members are quietly breaking away, claiming the opposition has entered a new phase against Tehran.

Iran’s exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi said Saturday that members of the Islamic Republic’s military and civilian establishment were already quietly breaking with the regime, describing Iran as having entered an “active defection” phase in the struggle to overthrow the country’s rulers.

Addressing thousands of supporters at the "Cyrus the Great II" gathering in Toronto over the weekend, Pahlavi outlined how in the months since the bloody January uprising, when over 40,000 Iranians were killed on the streets, the opposition had regrouped, adapted its tactics and expanded networks inside Iran, even as the regime sought to convince Iranians that the protest movement had been defeated.

“We are more experienced, more cohesive and more determined today than ever before,” he told the gathering. “Our objective is clear: the overthrow of the Islamic Republic and achieving a free and prosperous Iran.”

Central to his speech was the claim that erosion within the regime itself is continuing. For months, Pahlavi has said that officials from within the Islamic Republic’s apparatus have been quietly reaching out to him to signal their clandestine opposition to the regime.

These members of Iran’s civilian and military structures have used secure channels to distance themselves from the Islamic Republic and side with the opposition. For now, Pahlavi argued, many remain outwardly within the system, retaining their positions while gradually ceasing to perform the functions expected of them.

“They remain within the structure outwardly, but they no longer perform their former functions for the regime,” he said. “Quietly, but decisively, they are eroding the pillars of repression from within.”

Open defections, including soldiers publicly laying down their weapons, would represent a later stage reached once the balance of power had shifted decisively toward the opposition.

Pahlavi placed January's anti-regime protests within cycle of longer period of Iran unrest

During his Toronto address, Pahlavi also placed January’s uprising within a much longer period of unrest in Iran, dating back through several protest cycles.

Rather than portraying December-January’s demonstrations as an isolated explosion of anger, he traced their origins through a decade of growing opposition, from the large Cyrus Day gatherings of 2016, through the protests of 2017-18 and November 2019, to the nationwide uprising that followed Mahsa Amini's death in 2022. Saturday also saw global marches across the Iranian diaspora to mark four years since Amini’s death in the custody of the Iranian regime.

“The great uprising of Dey was not the product of a fleeting burst of emotion,” he said. “Behind it lay a long, difficult and costly road.”

The events of January 8 and 9, when the Islamic Republic launched a massive crackdown as demonstrations spread across the country, had nevertheless changed the circumstances confronting the opposition.

The scale of the killing, Pahlavi said, required changes in how the opposition operated, although not in what it ultimately sought to achieve.

“A change in tactics does not mean a change in objectives. It means adapting our methods to new circumstances.”

Saturday’s gathering was held at Meridian Hall as part of "Cyrus the Great II: From a Great Civilization to a Greater Future," organized by the Cyrus the Great Cultural & Humanity Organization. Organizers had said ahead of the event that more than 3,000 Iranian Canadians and supporters were expected.

The event brought Pahlavi together with Canadian political and civic figures, most prominently Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre, who used his appearance to call for stronger Canadian action against individuals linked to the Islamic Republic.

Canada's Poilievre calls for scrutiny on IRGC-linked actors entering country

Poilievre called for greater scrutiny of those connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps entering Canada, continued targeted sanctions, and measures to prevent regime-linked assets from being moved into the country.

Canada severed diplomatic relations with Tehran in 2012 and designated the IRGC as a terrorist entity in 2024.

Poilievre also spoke of Iran beyond the Islamic Republic, invoking Cyrus the Great and the country’s pre-Islamic history while expressing hope that Iranians would one day be able to return freely to their country and see the Lion and Sun flag raised there again.

For Pahlavi, much of Saturday’s address focused on another battle between the opposition and Tehran: the competing picture each presents of the state of resistance inside Iran. He accused the regime of promoting two central claims – that Iran’s opposition remains hopelessly divided and that no meaningful organization exists inside the country.

On the first, Pahlavi argued that agreement over Iran’s eventual form of government was not a prerequisite for cooperation against the Islamic Republic.

Republicans and monarchists, as well as those on the political left and right, could work together around four principles: Iran’s territorial integrity; separation of religion and government; individual freedoms and equality before the law; and Iranians' right to determine their future system of government through free and fair elections.

“The embrace of Iran’s Lion and Sun Revolution is open to every Iranian who accepts these four principles,” he said.

The second claim – that the opposition lacks organization – brought Pahlavi back to the networks he says now operate beneath the surface inside Iran.

If no organization existed, he asked, how could millions of Iranians inside and outside the country act together at critical moments?

According to Pahlavi, the answer lies in decentralized networks embedded in Iranian society, beyond the regime’s ability to easily dismantle. He claimed Tehran’s intelligence and security apparatus was itself increasingly concerned by their development.

The Iranian opposition leader nevertheless cautioned his supporters against assuming the Islamic Republic’s collapse was inevitable or imminent.

“We must be realistic. The work is not yet finished,” he said. “Overthrowing this criminal sect that has occupied our country is a complex, multi-stage process.”

But the central message of the Toronto speech was that Pahlavi believes that process has moved into a different stage – one increasingly focused on weakening the machinery of the Islamic Republic from within.

“The enemy is decaying from within and is hollow,” he told the crowd. “We are more determined and more organized than ever. Believe that the dawn of freedom is near.”

Saudi Arabia is trapped, unable to export its own oil as the Houthis advance and a shattered pipeline chokes off supply to Europe. In this episode we break down how MBS gambled everything on Donald Trump, why that bet is now backfiring, and how the coming diesel and gas crisis could hit Poland, France and the rest of Europe just as winter approaches. Could a call to Vladimir Putin be the only move MBS has left?

I’ll begin with Pahlavi. Tousi said he held a rally in Canada. I don’t know where, but it was a very large auditorium of some kind. The crowd shown was just about standing room only. Clearly thousands of people there chanting “Javid Shah!!!” with a great deal of enthusiasm. Occasionally during his speech they chanted “We will retake Iran!!!” Pahlavi also pointed out the new supreme leader isn’t doing a very good job. But it is hard to lead when, IF you’re alive, you’re hiding in a bunker.

The IRGC did their best to put on a counter demonstration outside the venue. According to the video shown they managed to bring out a whole TWO people. Not two thousand, not two hundred, just two. They are seen standing behind the police barricades across the street from the venue, waving regime flags.

I know it has been reported that a warning has been issued to any and all US civilians traveling in the M.E. It has also been reported that Trump says he is deciding if the regime is to be totally annihilated by the military or just allowed to slowly starve. Tousi is reporting that US forces have had their alert level raised. This may sound odd considering we are already at war. Those who know will tell you, an order like that at this time usually means one of two things.

“Gentlemen, prepare to defend yourselves.”

Or,

“Check your gear. We’re going in.”

The Saudi’s have decided to become more involved in Yemen now that both Mecca and Riyadh have been hit. That plus the fact Trump said “We’re busy. Fight your own war.” Their Air Force has been becoming more active in Yemen with success. Success that has been aided by a severe lack of Iranian resupply being shipped in.

In the SE of Iran the fighting continues, and the Guard command structure is wearing out their people. First they send them to the border with Iraq and Turkey, then they have to pull at least some of them and their equipment, supplies, ect. back and send them to the SE. The regime is still not saying anything about losses, however moving men around like chess pieces gives us a good idea.

Bans, not bombs...
ANY Iranian airline has to be shunned by the host airport, or they will be "KNOCKED OUT OF THE DOLLAR SYSTEM"

"On September 23rd, ALL the Iranian airlines will be shut down around the world!"

"If they land, you cannot provide them with fuel, you cannot provide them with landing services, you cannot sell them tickets, or you will be knocked out of the dollar system."

"We know who they are, they know who they are, and we are putting a stop to it."

THE HAMMER!

Bessent is on a true crusade to choke off the regime, day by day. Not only are their airlines being cut off, but BANKS are being sanctioned.

Notably, Bessent has said in recent weeks that he is even targeting CASH HOUSES leveraged by CHINA to funnel currency to the regime.

While he's not outwardly attacking or naming specific anti-China actions, Bessent is taking huge moves that directly impact them.

The regime will not be able to last if this continues. Utter decimation.

Qatar's Energy Minister Says Bessent's "Worthless" Hormuz Claim Is "Completely Wrong"

by Tyler Durden
Monday, Sep 21, 2026 - 12:15 PM
Qatari Energy Minister Saad Al-Kaabi blasted Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Sunday, saying he was "wrong" to claim the Strait of Hormuz would become "worthless" to the oil industry in two years.

"I think this is completely wrong," Saad Al-Kaabi said Sunday at the Qatar Economic Forum in New York.

Speaking to Fox Business's Larry Kudlow on the sidelines of the Group of 20 finance ministers' summit in North Carolina earlier this month, Bessent said the Hormuz maritime chokepoint, in about "two years will be… a worthless piece of water," adding that oil "will be going on pipelines across land."

View: https://x.com/DustyBC/status/2094795161561673771?ref_

Al-Kaabi, who also heads QatarEnergy, argued that rewiring the Hormuz area with pipelines to bypass the critical maritime chokepoint, as Bessent described, would not eliminate the broader trade flowing through the strait.

"I don't think this is ever going to be obsolete," he said.

View: https://x.com/annmarie/status/2101727640361005156?ref_

Bessent's comments come as a generational rewiring of energy flows in the Gulf, and really the world, is underway, and allies in the Gulf have already announced plans for new pipeline exits out of the region that bypass the strait.

New routes through the UAE and Iraq could eventually carry roughly 4 million additional barrels a day. Combined with increased flows through Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline, that could replace around 40% of the 20 million barrels a day that previously transited Hormuz.

The rewiring is all part of meaningful diversification but carries risks, as demonstrated by the recent drone attack on Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline that has rendered it useless in the short term.

Alternative pipelines can reduce dependence on Hormuz. But warfare has forever changed, with low-cost one-way attack drones putting every critical infrastructure asset in the region in the crosshairs.

Beyond the Gulf, the Trump administration is diversifying oil supply chains by signing a mega deal with Venezuela and allowing US energy giants to begin investments to ramp up oil production. The aim is to bring energy and critical materials supply chains closer to home, a key pillar of Trump's Western Hemisphere revival.

Making Hormuz worthless is a long game for the Trump administration while it builds out energy assets in the West.

Powerful Explosion Rocks Aleppo Ammo Depot In Latest Mystery Blast

by Tyler Durden
Monday, Sep 21, 2026 - 01:20 PM
A terrifying blast erupted outside the major northern Syrian city of Aleppo overnight, which caused area residents to evacuate their homes, and with sustained explosions visible for miles around.

The explosion happened at an army base in an outlying town, injuring at least four people, after which a series of blasts persisted, which unleashed shrapnel across the area.

State media outlet SANA later cited Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management which indicated an ammunition depot was detonated.

Amid local evacuations, emergency crews were on "high alert... due to the continued explosions" - after being initially unable to get close given persisting and follow-on explosions.

An eyewitness in Aleppo's Hamdaniyeh neighborhood told AFP of a "huge explosion" and that people in the area could see "large flames in the distance".

Typically the first fear that Syrians have is that they are once again under attack by Israeli fighter jets, given this is a scenario which has played out literally hundreds of times over the past several years of conflict. There have been no initial statements describing what caused the disaster.

But several munitions and military warehouse accidents have occurred under the new Jolani government of late.

For example, in earlier September a Ministry of Defense weapons depot ignited and 14 people were killed.

Lately the country has been suffering extreme fuel prices amid efforts to get inflation under control, and amid stagnant wages and efforts to get the post-war economy back on track. Washington's recent dropping of Assad-era sanctions have yet to bear any immediate fruit, however.

Several days of protests across various cities have persisted, after the new rulers in Damascus abruptly removed fuel subsidies for the population.

On September 13 the government decision saw diesel prices shoot up 40% and petrol prices by 28%, after not just years but decades of government regulated price controls and subsidies.

Is there a covert sabotage campaign afoot? The Israelis have of late occupied southern Syria, and have engaged in operations to ensure Syria has no advanced or heavy weapons or munitions...

Three #Syria Defense Ministry arms depots have exploded in 11 days — in #Idlib (Sep 9), Deir ez Zour (Sep 18) & tonight in #Aleppo.

It’s still summer weather in #Syria, and storage practices could be better — but 3 in 11 days seems too much to be coincidence.

Big questions. pic.twitter.com/BkaZ0A2lZS

— Charles Lister (@Charles_Lister) September 20, 2026

Already the country was smashed by proxy war and sweeping US-led sanctions, not to mention a decade-long US troop occupation of Syria's oil and gas fields in the northeast, which strangled the population, as part of efforts to overthrow secular Ba'ath leader Bashar al-Assad.

Tonight Tousi really is reporting much the same as before. Fighting continues in the SE of Iran. It seems targeting is becoming better. The resistance has taken out a high ranking LEO (if you can call them that) for that part of Iran. The guy was responsible for the crack down in that area last Jan.

It is being suggested the ammo dump in Syria that just blew up was hit by “unknown persons” to keep the Houthi’s from being resupplied. I suspect it was also to keep Hezbollah on the ropes as well.

Last thing of interest is that Qatar is now hosting a number of US tankers for our aircraft. AND it is now being rumored that when the fighting starts again, there will be a coalition of Arab nations who’ve just had enough of the regime and want them gone. Of course the fact that the Sunni’s have been fighting with the Shia all these centuries doesn’t help. At least so says Mr. Tousi.

OPPSSS! I forgot the weird part. There have been sightings of UFO’s in several Iranian cities. It is unknown who’s flying them but the one videoed over Tehran looked like it came from a Gay Pride celebration. Shaped like crescent with rainbow lighting.

Qatar's Emir used his UN General Assembly address to attack Israel, calling what is happening in Gaza a disgrace to all humanity. He warned that the forced emigration Israel is marketing will become the solution, and said Israel is trying to act as a policeman in Lebanon.

On the wider region: "I stand before you today and our region is facing one of its most dangerous stages. The crisis in the Gulf affects the entire world. The crisis we are facing is not a surprise to anyone, since it is the result of years of managing crises with temporary solutions and unrealistic policies. Our approach is that the way to resolve conflicts is through dialogue and negotiations in order to reach just solutions."

Open Source Intel @Osint613 Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has ordered the IRGC Aerospace Force to keep him updated on problems affecting its weapons supply chain

WATCHING NOW!! Per Tousi, the resistance group in SE Iran has officially declared war on the IRGC. Video shown has a masked armed man, speaking in Farsi, says to the Guard,

“If you come here, we will send your body back!”

Will supply more when able. But THIS is a big thing.

EDIT: The plane carrying the President of Iran has been forced to make an emergency landing, I believe in Algiers.

NYPD Bomb Squad has locked down portions of Manhattan. Suspicious package on 143rd St.

One last thing. Even Mrs. late says she won’t fly Iran Air, or any other Iranian airlines. Mainly because of age and maintenance issues.

ALL CLEAR given in NYC.

URGENT | Killing of General Hossein Zarifi, from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's Quds Force and commander of the "Sajjad Operational Base" in Saravan, in Iran's Balochistan region, during armed clashes with Baloch armed groups.

The killing of a military commander at this level is considered a major development, and constitutes a notable escalation in the ongoing confrontations in Iran's Balochistan region.

A clip of Reza Pahlavi saying,

“America doesn’t have to put boots on the ground. They are millions of Iranian boots on the ground now.”

Also,

“America should not fund this final battle against the regime. They have frozen IRGC accounts. Use that to fund the Iranian people already on the ground.”

Lastly and most telling in many ways.

“The regime killed 40,000 people in one night. Those people didn’t die for a strait. They died for liberty. Help them win the final battle and they will be your greatest ally.”
