At around 1 mile of ice before you hit dirt they can want all they wish. The only ice-free areas are mountains. Under such conditions you really can't do even exploratory drilling save with great effort. Then, assuming you find something, what do you do with the 1 mile depth of ice you strip-mined off to get the dirt you now have to strip mine further? There is valid reason no nation has ever tried to mine Antarctica.

Someone either had their mind leave the planet, or there is supposed to be a message in this to someone(s). I honestly don't know what it is right now. The woo part of me wants to say maybe Iran is trying to tell the US they are on to them about something going on in that part of the world. The more rational part is thinking that someone in the leadership is hallucinating or there's an actual code. A code we are not likely to get the key to anytime soon.

The only thing that's there that would be of any importance, well two actually, is that experimental star gate where they need seriously subzero temps to fire up, and the landing base... Other than that what in the world would Iran need with Antarctica?

I'll happily follow this up in the woo section, but not on the main board. Let's just say here I can think of a number of things that MIGHT be there. Doesn't mean they are, but they could be.

It's not woo, though it's been discredited as woo. Antartica has the two necessary components to allow experimental space travel to occur, sub zero temps, and active volcanoes that can produce unlimited power. And an extremely low population that won't be screaming Not in My Back Yard.
Watch Anthony Bourdain's show where he travels to Antartica and he's given a special tour of one of the power plants (that's many feet below ground) and he quips "this could power a star gate" and the guy giving the tour says "exactly", and you could tell he wasn't joking. The look on Tony's face was epic, and he points at the guy and mouths something to his camera man... that part I couldn't make out. Various govt's are carrying out experiments there... some may be for the betterment of mankind, some may be of a nefarious nature.
The space landing site is not a major secret, it was one of the places they thought they might land rockets returning from space back in the 60's. There's a thingy about that at the Air and Space Museum in DC. They had several places around the planet picked out and ready to go.

I am not talking about the Black Ops programs being done by several countries; there may be some exciting archeology down there. Or, there may not. Nightwolf said when looking at some of the issues, "They probably don't have anything, but if they've found the ruins of Atlantis or something, we need to get real archeologists down there before the governments can mess with it!"

There's a reason air space over antartica is restricted, and this includes satellites and it's not woo, and those are not black ops programs... it's right there in plain sight, and their not woo. They push it as woo because they don't want the masses knowing the truth, can't have the useful idiots wanting to do space travel, yada, yada, yada... Their story line is sorta like NA and SA were empty and no one had ever lived here until the white man showed up. Yeah, right.

Yep something we were never taught in school. It’s penguins, seals, and ice. Heck I didn’t even know there were active volcanoes there until there were multiple quakes there some twenty years ago now.
