The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Right—CHIRLA—is one of the key players in fomenting the violent response to immigration enforcement actions. It’s an LA-based nonprofit with a history of taking radical positions on immigration; for example, it led a 2018 campaign to abolish ICE. It currently leads the Los Angeles Rapid Response Network, which gathers intel about enforcement actions and deploys activists to respond.

CHIRLA has strong ties to the Democrat Party in California and has supported the election of Democratic candidates through its lobbying arm. It has a particularly close relationship with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

The organization also has a close relationship with organized labor in the state, which in turn is a major financial supporter of Democrat politicians. On Friday, amid rising tensions, CHIRLA held a rally protesting ICE’s enforcement actions and the arrest of SEIU President David Huerta for obstruction.

The incredible part is that CHIRLA’s activities are primarily funded by California taxpayers. I obtained a financial audit that shows that for the fiscal year ending June 2023, it received $34 million from the state, mostly through the Department of Social Services, accounting for 72% of its total revenue. This was nearly a three-fold increase over the previous year.

CHIRLA also received a $450,000 federal contract in 2023, which Mayor Bass publicly took credit for helping secure. DHS froze funding in February, which prompted a lawsuit from CHIRLA. DHA then canceled the contract, and the lawsuit was then dismissed.

Eisenhower warned of the military-industrial complex—now we face a nonprofit-industrial complex.

This is normal living for LA.

The 1992 Los Angeles riots (also called the South Central riots, Rodney King riots, or the 1992 Los Angeles uprising)[5][6] were a series of riots and civil disturbances that occurred in Los Angeles County, California, United States, during April and May 1992. Unrest began in South Central Los Angeles on April 29, after a jury acquitted four officers of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) charged with using excessive force in the arrest and beating of Rodney King. The incident had been videotaped by George Holliday, who was a bystander to the incident, and was heavily broadcast in various news and media outlets.

G.H. Bush called out the Marines in this one. Not to mention the Roof top Koreans.

The Watts riots, sometimes referred to as the Watts Rebellion or Watts Uprising,[1] took place in the Watts neighborhood and its surrounding areas of Los Angeles from August 11 to 16, 1965. The riots were motivated by anger at the racist and abusive practices of the Los Angeles Police Department, as well as grievances over employment discrimination, residential segregation, and poverty in L.A.[2]

On August 11, 1965, Marquette Frye, a 21-year-old black man, was pulled over for drunk driving.[3][4][5] After he failed a field sobriety test, officers attempted to arrest him. Marquette resisted arrest, with assistance from his mother, Rena Frye; a physical confrontation ensued in which Marquette was struck in the face with a baton. Meanwhile, a crowd of onlookers had gathered.[3] Rumors spread that the police had kicked a pregnant woman who was present at the scene. Six days of civil unrest followed, motivated in part by allegations of police abuse.[4] Nearly 14,000 members of the California Army National Guard[6] helped suppress the disturbance, which resulted in 34 deaths,[7] as well as over $40 million in property damage.[8][9] It was the city's worst unrest until the Rodney King riots of 1992.

Like I said it is normal for LA. It's not because of money being funneled into a particular organization, but that does help. It's a Culture.

ETA: you feed into THEIR culture instead of the culture of the US, this will always happen. Be a US citizen, speak english, get a job, go for the dream of owning your own home, raising your kids in a peaceful neighborhood........

But no speak Spanish, celebrate your nations day of independence, DEI, give-me-dat's and you will ALWAYS end up with this.

I'm glad that I don't live within 3,000 miles of LA.

you actually think this stays confined to LA or ANY of the major cities? >>> this kind of militant crap will be heading out before they get themselves encircled & trapped - that Most Wanted is already hiding out in some barrel warehouse in a Napa vineyard .....

I'm still waiting for the first sniping - not many of the criminal crap being ICE arrested aren't armed - don't expect the average Venezuelan that survived and fought his way into the US leaves without a fight >>> ICE kicks down an apartment door and he's ready .....

When are you people going to wake up. Show these jackwagons the door, or a prison cell preferably. Why do you keep putting up with this mockery. Elect sheriffs that will stand up to them and clean house. Take your state back.

Eisenhower warned of the military-industrial complex—

He did, but the quote is actually the military industrial Congressional complex. People seem to forget the congressional part.
To be fair, it is accurate to say non-profit/industrial/Congressional complex. These people are thriving off of grants and government junkets.

SJW-Marxism is so entrenched in CA Politics and Society I doubt it can uprooted; that opportunity was dying the minute WWII started winding down.
